It would have been vastly better if they had used Russia's GLONASS system.
Apart from destroying our standard of living -- the "American Dream" -- it will lessen our ability to influence or support Israel, Ukraine, NATO, ... pretty much everyone. No more international "projection of American power."
A collapsing standard of living will also increase domestic discontent, and draw a crackdown from our surveillance and police state.
