Local beavers are helping Ukraine defend itself from a potential new front in Russia's invasion, Reuters reported on Thursday. The animals are unwittingly helping Kyiv by building dams that keep the ground marshy and impassable, a military spokesman told the agency.
This helps Ukraine by making it less likely that an attack could come via Belarus, which borders Ukraine not far north of the capital Kyiv...

I'm sure we have posters out there ready to respond to this serious piece I read on a blog yesterday with some choice words.
Hey, now.. Let’s leave the women out of this fight.
Hey, now.. Let’s leave the women out of this fight.
What about airborne and air assault? Are there combat birds to handle that too?
Ward,
don’t you think the Russians were a little hard on the beaver last night?
Did the Caddyshack beaver move to eastern Europe?
National socialist beavers no doubt.
It is real, a small thing but helpful, the other day I read the Reuters article the blog links to.
“”The unit’s spokesman, Serhiy Khominskyi, said that help in making the terrain unpassable had also come from an unlikely ally: the local beaver population.

the year is young, but on my list for best headlines so fsr
Primus - Wynona’s big brown beaver
13 years ago, but seems relevant today except today zellenskkyy has the beaver
They can have the beaver on the spring end of the lake in our neighborhood. The guy who blows up their dam every so often seems to be using louder and louder explosives that he shoots, and it’s starting to rattle the house. My dog and I are definitely rattled.
Nice
‘Dammed the world Forever’ was also good
Beavers trained by the Ghost of Kiev, right?
LOL
RE: Did the Caddyshack beaver move to eastern Europe?
We all make mistakes, starting with me, but here’s a little help:
Caddyshack’s varmint was a gopher.
When his boss told him to kill the gophers,
Carl the Assistant Groundskeeper said: “Now don’t get me wrong but if we kill the golfers isn’t that murder?”
Boss: “Gophers. Gophers....”
Carl: You and that Scottish accent of yours.
That’s right. I had forgotten it was a gopher. I don’t know what the hell I was thinking. It’s been years since I saw the movie. Thanks for correcting me.
