I don’t have a wood lathe or a welder, but I can improvise. Saturate the cable ends with solder to keep them from unraveling. Cap the business end with whatever is handy and epoxy. Wooden dowel for a handle. Drill press to make the hole for the other end of the cable. Wire bind the handle for extra strength. Alternate steel and copper for aesthetics. That’s a rough outline. Details aren’t hard to work out.
