Tennessee Republicans have shown that fighting back against the left is not simply a matter of will. Sometimes, tough action matters less than savvy maneuvers.
Last week, the Tennessee state House expelled two Democrats for disrupting a legislative session. The move was meant to quell protests that have turned the state capitol into a circus following the Covenant School shooting.
But the expulsions had the opposite effect, encouraging more aggressive protests and turning the expelled representatives into international darlings. Republicans even failed to remove the white lawmaker who helped the protests, giving the Left a “southern racist” angle to spin.
The expulsions completely failed to achieve their objective. So was this an effective way to punish Republicans’ enemies? Not at all. We want Republican lawmakers to advance strong legislation and not capitulate in the face of tremendous pressure. But gutsy actions must achieve success. Wannabe tough action that completely fails just makes you look like a loser.

Yes, as usual.
This was a case of “we didn’t think this through very well”. So when the expelled and reappointed assemblyman comes back, give him absolutely no committee assignments nor anything else and make it clear that he is to have ONLY voting privileges when bills come up in the full House. Don’t even recognize him for floor speeches.
This wasn't to quell protests.
This was to establish a precedent that radicals cannot take over a legislature with a bull horn.
There is only one definition of victory, and that is unconditional surrender. There is only one method that elicits unconditional surrender, and that is complete and utter destruction. To win, we must become like Boaz when he was single.

If something doesn’t happen in the exact way, time and manner as defined by the brainwashed doom and gloomers, than it’s a defeat.
That’s right. When he comes back don’t even cc him on emails.
They did what they should have done.
You are the kind of stock that the Republican Party has been made of for far too long, and why this nation is in the mess it's in. Start growing a set, along with a spine. If we go down, at least we did it as men, and not sheep being led to slaughter.
That’s because the republicans are like weak parents with a strong willed defiant two year old who has learned that if he doubles down on his temper tantrums, the parents eventually give in.
If republicans actually showed some manhood and refused to be manipulated by the left’s temper tantrums and name calling, things would change, but at this point since they’ve showed themselves so weak, it’s going to take a very strong and determined and unyielding stand to show the democrats that this time it’s going to be different, that they really do mean business.
I don’t know if there are enough Republicans with enough manhood to do that.
Kids tell the parents these days. Parents complain about having to buy their kids $200 sneakers...but they still buy them.
I don’t even buy myself $200 sneakers.
I told my kids as they approached their teen years, that I would contribute enough towards their clothing for normal clothing. If they wanted something special or high fashion, they had to pay for it themselves. My obligation to feed and clothe them did not extend to stuff like $200 sneakers.
They were also on their own for video games, CDs, DVDs, and electronic devices, short a phone when they went to college.
What else should the general assembly do?
Let the radical Democrat rep with the bullhorn disrupt the business of legislation anytime they want?
Libs were going to march anyway. Let them do it outside and without their representative.
Could have stripped them of all committee assignments, claim it as tit-for-tat to the way the Democrats in congress behaved.
Or at *LEAST* expel all three to avoid the ‘racist’ angle, I mean talk about winning the battle but getting set back in the war.
That was dumb. Should have tossed the fat blonde out too.
Beyond stupid as far as optics.
