Bear spray that doesn’t contain lead has, IMHO, always been a risky proposition.
Not that this picture has anything to do with my comment, above.
The bear found the dog muy caliente
It never does.
That’s why I’m always armed when I take my little buddy hiking. His job is to warn me. I need about 3 seconds to get my gun out and start slinging lead.
I love how Superman stands tall as the bullets impact his chest, then ducks out of the way to avoid being hit by the thrown revolver :)
Sorry, this story is pure bullshit. You empty and entire can of bear spray in a bears face that bear will be incapacitated.
There is more to this story.
That is true! Lead in the bear spray was in common usage during the Lewis and Clark expedition.
Bear spray has failed more then once.
What is BS is the idea that bear spray works well.
Black bears are by far the least effected by spray.
Then the brown kind.
Bear spray can be effective when combined with .44 mag spray.
Even the great bear spray proponent and bear researcher Stephen Herrero noted that predatory black bears are resistant to bear spray.
Why did superman feel it was necessary to duck?
That always brings a chuckle to me. Once you notice the irony, you can’t unsee it.
It was in the script!
I have noticed that the bears I have shot with handguns.
A 44mag shooting a 315gr WFN hard cast at around 1300fps works well.
It would be interesting to know the breed of dog(s) the hikers had with them, even though it likely would have made little difference in the end. I suspect that if people viewed black bears as 2, 3, 400+ pound Rottweilers capable of moving 30 mph (which is essentially what they are), they would not pin their hopes on a can of pepper spray.
You gave me a good laugh there. The prop master, I guess, couldn't come up with a prop gun that wouldn't injure George Reeves when the other actor chucked it at him and also give the effect of "shooting" something out of it as well.
