I don’t use Gurgle. I currently use Duck Duck Go. I should try Gurgle to see if I get the same results.
clicked on some links in FR to see Page not available, or Error 404 or website not available on this server etc. It is not often but is more often then a month ago.
It could be in Google. Only exact titles or quotes show up on the searches.
You have to ask?
I see FR posts on Duck Duck Go searches.
Try yandex.com. It’s Russian and the hits are ranked differently than the US engines. Compare the results for “site:freerepublic.com” between the various search engines. Also, set the search for the latest/24hrs. It makes a big difference on ddg.
Duckduckgo ranks its search according to number of times it has been visited. Type in a quote from FR then use tools to specify the time the document was posted. You’ll find it.
Don’t bother Google; it’s so bad it won’t let me watch YouTube without disabling my VPN. Any site with that requirement shouldn’t be visited anyhow.
I just tried Bing. I typed in free republic (no quotes), and good old Free Republic came up first.
I don’t like Bill Gates. I don’t like Microsoft. But Bing seems to be okay as search engines go. And Bing does recognize the national holidays properly.
Hi.
You are correct.
For example go into a store, dealership or school and you most likely can’t access FR. Or, through some search engines.
Methinks this has been an ongoing problem for a while.
Maybe Jim has more info.

Why would you think otherwise? Where have you been the last few years?
When the identical article is posted on Freerepublic, it does not show up on search engines, unless the search term freerepublic is specifically included.
Freerepublic has a much greater circulation than Gun Watch.

This is how it should be. If the article is primarily first posted at gun watch, that’s what the Google search results will display first.
It has always worked ok for me with Bing
Google sucks. I was trying to search the definition of a word a few days ago and because the word was also the name of a business it never showed, only + pages of ads related to that business.
I don’t think FR feeds the tags Google likes to pay attention to. There’s always been some trickery to having your site pop up high on Google.
don’t use google. but duck duck go in a tor window at least shows FR just fine.
I have found this to be true.
Also with contemporary issues, Google shows all the old stuff first, not the most recent. I’m sure they would have REALLY important reasons for doing that.
These days if you search for anything on Google then all get is MSM sources.
I have searched by title and seen Posts in FreeRepublic in the top of my results and that is on Chrome. So, no I wouldn’t say banned. I have a feeling that all results on any engine might be throttled for one reason or another, even just to save the search engine’s sanity.
Captain Obvious alert.
