My wife loves the images of fat rich piggies on slot machines so, naturally, on July 3 she played the machines with that porcine image. Our strategy, as always, was to put $20 into the slots and to cash out whenever the winnings go over about $30. That way the most we can lose for the evening would be limited to the initial $20 in the machine. After cashing out we place another $20 in the machine and if we lose that then we are done for the day. However, if we win again we repeat the process of cashing upon winning and then recycling $20 back into the slots. However, we don't take the chance of pressing Lady Luck too much, and like we did in this session, left the casino while still in the plus win category even though it was modest. That way we are more likely to return again in a week or two.
As you can see here, although the overall winnings were modest, they did pretty much pay for our July 4 picnic consisting of smoked turkey, chili cheese fries, and, above all, the Picanha steak. Oh, and we are not forgetting the watermelon and beer. Thank you Rich Little Piggies!
PING!
You should get some wasabi beef, since you’re rich.
I do the same thing - I rarely gamble - mostly just part of a social outing.
I take my “x” amount of money I’m going to spend (I liken it to a concert ticket or nice dinner). I put $20 in the machine. Any time I win, I stash the ticket. If not, I move on. At the end of the day when I’ve gone through my “x” amount, I cash in my winning tickets and call it quits.
At least this way I have a chance of going home with some of my money
I know I’m not fooling the casino, only fooling myself - preventing myself from chasing the “hit”
Go for the Wagyu! :-)
My top winnings ever were $75 at the video poker in the Golden Nugget. I spent it on dinner. π
Went to Vegas a few years back - it was on my bucket list. We spent about $100 total on gambling - mostly the two-dollar blackjack at Binion’s, just for the nostalgia. Rest of the time sightseeing.
When I lived out west I hit a royal flush twice (different times)on max bets.
That is when you walk away.
Congrats on the getting the piggie to dance!
1st and only time I went to a casino was back in 2002. Went to the one in LA where the gals wore cowboy hats and chaps and little else...
Went in with 100 bucks, came out with 1200 or so. Paid for a hunting trip. Never been back...
You sound like y’all play it safe.
My wife is a slot machine addict. She regularly loses between $1000 and $2000 per week at the Fraternal Order of Eagles/
It’s her separate money, so I can’t stop her so I just take some of her occasional winnings and put it away.
I never won anything big but just enough to keep Mr. b and the kids happy in the arcade. Yeah, big high roller here, not.
That was so adorable!!!
I used to LOVE to play slot machines when I overnighted in Las Vegas - I usually won at least $300 and several times around $1500. Last year, I went to a casino in York, PA and played a slot machine but it was just awful. It was like a glorified video game and I won $.12 after sinking $30 in the machine.
I used to like to sit with friends, have a drink and pull the lever or push the button and see the spinning of the fruits or numbers. No more... it is just a video game.
Our friend’s mother plays the scratch tickets. She won $10,000 about 3 weeks ago and then the next week $600. I think $50 is my big win on scratch offs. π
Another big win for Mrs. Comix!!!! She’s got a magic touch.
