I remember hearing once a pastor talking about what it would look like if Satan took over.

In a nutshell he said “If Satan took over, the streets would be clean, there would be no profanity or prostitution, and the churches would be full every Sunday, where Christ isn’t preached.”

So many churches today are gone totally off the rails. It is getting harder and harder to find a good bible teaching church. It has been sad to see so many of the the main stream conservative denominations spiral into seeker sensitive, luke warm, leftist garbage.

On a positive note, at least you live in God’s country. Go Dawgs.

It sounds like a timewaster, at best. You did well to leave.

If a parish caters to popular thought as a starting point, it has already become an object to avoid in terms of a “church home.”

Not where we go in Snohomish, WA.

As an aside, we visited a church in Kirkland, WA years ago. The pastor did not even quote Scripture!

Not the case in my Mississippi Catholic Church, but if you want to be harangued about global warming and environmentalism I have a few Jesuit run Catholic Churches in NOLA I can direct you to. Further on the down side my own rather conservative RC church hosts a weekly “youth mass” where the average age looks to be in the mid seventies.

Churches are in trouble and I don’t see any sign that the situation will improve in either the RC church or mainstream Protestant denominations. A God who makes demands on people just is not cool these days. His job is to sit in heaven and wait to answer the phone when poor decision making fouls things up.

Had the liturgist read from Ephesians as the passage that the minister was speaking from/about? My guess, from your statement, is the answer is “no.” I would then have thought that the minister would have read from it. I have been to services where a classic Disney movie has been mentioned as an example for folks, especially the children can relate to, but never a long discourse as you mentioned.

No. You did well to leave.

We would have done the same. I unfortunately spent most of my youth in a mainstream protestant church where the Lord did not come first, so I look for Bible believing churches when I am not able to attend our local church. If you see a rainbow flag hanging from your church, it likely means they are spouting gender ideology, not to remind you of the Noah-ic Covenant.

Do not darken the door of that church.

Please name the church. I don't question what you heard, but what is the church's name, where is the church located, and what is its affiliation. If it were, say, Episcopalian, no surprise; if Southern Baptist or PCA, bad and big shock.

Not here in North Idaho Thank God!

For right now, there still preaching the Bible-Inspired Gospel for the most part.

There are some churches preaching a watered down, distorted gospel but they seem to be in the minority.

Preaching “Disney” is of course totally not allowed in the Orthodox Church!!!

It used to be unheard of in the Lutheran Church when I was there back when!

You did the right thing in leaving. Any pastor who supports Disney and does so from the pulpit is off the reservation.

Yes! Our Pastor talked about the “Light shows” and “concerts” at church. Every Sunday is scripture driven.

We do a “truth in fiction” for teenagers and tweens where they read fiction novels like CS Lewis’ books and discuss it as it pertains to religion. They’ve also done night classes in conjunction with The Chose, but that’s about as far out as it gets.

You are no alone in feeling this way. Some people have the Scriptures, but they don’t have the love. Some have the love, but they don’t have the Scriptures. Some have the light show and rock concert and they don’t know who Christ is at all.

Nope. We sang hymns, we prayed, he read Scripture and talked solely about it, we sang again and then again and we went home and I vacuumed.

No bible believing church would say nice things about Disney right now. Sounds like you went to a liberal church. These churches are Christian in name only.
