They need to start putting bean bags with seat belts in the cargo hold everyone happy.
“Plus-sized woman”. Oh, you mean, Obese.
The lady who booked the two seats us completely right.
Miss, thank you for doing the right thing.
How do you fault a person for spending that much money to make a situation work for her, whether it is for her own comfort or for being considerate of others, or some of both, either way, she puts her own money into dealing with it.
Yep. She bought the seats. End of story.
what?
Carbon-hoggin'/Fat shamin' ping.
Didn’t read quite far enough. She did the right thing. She paid for 2 seats. Unless she is significantly compensated and is willing, those are her seats and under no obligation to surrender either of them.
I bet that plane lists like a pontoon boat
Agreed. The woman rightly booked two seats and paid for both and needs both.
I know that photo is from the article, but I don’t know if that’s the passenger in question. If so, the portion of her that’s the most “plus size” is the seat portion.
The stewardess left to track down a passenger willing to trade. She returned ten minutes later with a female passenger. The woman, one half of a married couple willing to trade seats, called OP selfish. She made sure to shame OP for not helping “a dad in need.”
OP did not balk at the insult. She told the woman, “I booked early, and I booked two seats together because, to put it plainly, I’m fat. His two seats were separate seats. How exactly do you propose I split my fat a** in half to sit one half in one seat and the other half in his other seat?”
Does this mean that the married couple were unwilling to take the father's two separate seats? What "help" did the married woman think she was offering? "Help" to assist the stewardess in haranguing the overweight woman?
No other two passengers on the plane were willing to take the father's original seats? That doesn't sound plausible unless something more was going on.
These days, post Covid - the airlines cram as many into the jets as they can and have cut so many flights. Some due to fuel prices, or staffing, but by doing so, they also shrunk the seats so that any flight within the CONUS of more than two hours is very uncomfortable. You don’t see this with international carriers, who don’t cram their jets, and even if they do, the seat pitch is much better.
Yes
Why didn’t the guy ask the people seated next to him (or his daughter) to trade seats so they could sit together? With at least two and maybe four “neighbors” would agree.
I’m retired and don’t fly anymore, but I read this article and read articles where people approach perfect strangers and ask/demand that they move so that their family can sit together...
I’m amazed. I’m glad no one ever did this to me.
I always thought of it as the “center” seat, but now I’ll call it the “centaur” seat.
Holy Crap! I don’t see how she even managed two seats!
Should have booked the entire row.
Why don’t they say. Some lardass woman......
She is totally in the right.

Look at that picture in post 6. She’s pretty total in the left also.
