She was in the right. Good for her.
There is no issue here; the lady is totally in the right and how on earth anyone could expect her to give up what she paid for is beyond me. The idiot and his daughter could have booked early, or paid extra, but they wanted to take advantage of someone who did and paid for it. I was recently on a flight, in an exit row, and the young woman next to me asked that I trade seats with her fiance with whom she had recently gotten engaged. I asked where he was and she replied that he was in the middle seat of the very back row, the single worst seat on the plane. I replied with a simple “No” and she started yelling at me; the flight attendant came over, asked her what was her problem and she said she wanted to sit next to her fiance. The flight attendant told her in no uncertain terms that she was to keep quiet, not bother me again and asked “why on earth would he trade his exit row seat for that??”
She paid for two seats and wants what she paid for. Nothing wrong with that. đź‘Ť
In the flying world you have to understand that edict is of the Manhattan style. You push for everything, even if your not entitled to it. Its not about Miss Manners here. Its about being pushy with no hard feelings. They will push, you push back. And both should forget about it. Of course mid-westerners don’t forget about it. They are worried that they did not give enough. That they could have, should have given up what is rightfully theirs to help their fellow man. The Manhattan style of ethics feeds on this guilt. Don’t give it a second thought. That man knew he was in the wrong. And he did not care 10 minutes later.
“I replied with a simple “No” and she started yelling at me; the flight attendant came over, asked her what was her problem and she said she wanted to sit next to her fiance. “
I continue to be amazed by these stories. I’m by no means a shy person or timid... but I can’t wrap my brain around the sublime arrogance that kind of obnoxious behavior would require. Like it’s your fault the idiot can’t sit next to her fiance (that poor dumb schmuck... he’ll find out soon enough what he’s tangled in).
I have heard for years about the “Ugly American” image Americans have in the world. Look no further than this dumb b and others like her for perfect reasons why that might be.
She booked two seats and was in the right. As the old saying goes “A lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part”. The Dad is just gonna have to deal with it.

The fat lady did the right thing in buying two seats. She was completely in the right.
I hadnt thought about buying 2 seats but sure would be convenient on long haul flights
The OP paid for 2 seats - end of story! Anyone who complains about her not giving up something she paid for, are themselves selfish! Probably democrats.
Ayn Rand wrote about this a lot.
Those who accuse others of being “selfish” are demanding the other person be their slave and be obedient to their every whim.
Yes, the plus size lady was right and reasonable. She paid for both seats because of her size and she is entitled not to be judged and shamed about it. I also like her sarcastic response in putting down the folks trying to shame her.
She paid for two seats. She gets the
drinks, food, snacks for both.
Yes, in this case, the ‘fat’ woman did the right thing. Flying these days sucks for everyone... Everybody is angry and on edge, it seems.
Left Cheek Jones and Right Cheek Jones.
She bought 2 seats—THEY’RE HER TWO seats!
Period——
The woman did the right thing and paid dearly for being so obese. Good for her. In this case it wasn’t enough for some selfish people.
