Many times on FR I have seen comments about fatties needed 2 seats, this woman did right by booking 2 seats.

Have to wonder how you would book 2 seats? A passenger's name is normally required. Maybe you can put the same passenger's name in for each seat.

Agree. She did the right thing, bur THEY had no right to complain or fat shame. SHE PAID FOR TWO TICKETS. She could have put anything in that seat if she so chose.

How do you fault a person for spending that much money to make a situation work for her, whether it is for her own comfort or for being considerate of others, or some of both, either way, she puts her own money into dealing with it.

Fatties on airplanes is a story that comes up regularly. In this case, the overweight lady did exactly the right thing. She needed extra space. She paid for two seats. Case closed. What I don't understand is the inability of the stewardess to find an alternative solution. The story goes on:

The stewardess left to track down a passenger willing to trade. She returned ten minutes later with a female passenger. The woman, one half of a married couple willing to trade seats, called OP selfish. She made sure to shame OP for not helping “a dad in need.”

OP did not balk at the insult. She told the woman, “I booked early, and I booked two seats together because, to put it plainly, I’m fat. His two seats were separate seats. How exactly do you propose I split my fat a** in half to sit one half in one seat and the other half in his other seat?”

Does this mean that the married couple were unwilling to take the father's two separate seats? What "help" did the married woman think she was offering? "Help" to assist the stewardess in haranguing the overweight woman?

No other two passengers on the plane were willing to take the father's original seats? That doesn't sound plausible unless something more was going on.
