Biden passed 4 trillion in new spending in two years for the criminals in Washington. The Inflation Reduction Act and an Infrastructure bill. Republicans in The Senate voted for both these bills and now they want to cut people’s retirement? What a world.

While I have little use for Christie he is telling the truth here for once. Unfortunately it leads into the dog food and grandma off the cliff attacks.

But Social Security has trillions of unfunded liabilities, even with the current rules, and even considering that baby boomers will be dying off in decades ahead. So there’s that.
And we paid trillions in covid benefits with borrowed money. So you can do anything financially if you just add it to the national debt. It’s not like we have trillions of dollars sitting in the federal treasury that can be spent however politicians want to spend it.
DemonRat’s plans to crash our economy (which are going quite well) so badly it makes the Great Depression look like an economic hiccup should terrify the world, let alone “voters. “
It’s renewed, Republicans trying to kill the party chances in 2024 by stirring up ‘cut social security’, ‘raise retirement age’, and more hysteria. Sadly too many Republicans actually talk as if this is real proposal.

Trump said he won’t talk about cutting SS. He says it’s ridiculous. We paid for it and we’re getting it. Tge republicans are against him. They’ll lose. They’ll always underestimate him.

Boomers have been dying off FOR decades. Only the tail end of boomers are left to die off.
And we’ve been paying, and paying, and paying into the $%$^&* SS/medicare system our whole lives.
We never lived in mommy and daddy’s basement playing video games. We have worked our asses off for decades, ever since we left home at eighteen (or earlier). BTW, many of us left home directly into the service of our country (aka “military”).
SS wasn’t my damned idea, I was FORCED into paying into it at the point of a gun. It’s a contract; I want only what is owed to me. (And by the way, I’m well over retirement age and have so far drawn ZERO SS, ZERO medicare. I’m still working and therefore paying into both funds.)
You think boomers are freeloaders? What’s gonna be interesting is what the next couple generations do after we’re all dead. Since y’all as a rule (not you in particular) don’t give a shit about America and what it takes to maintain a free nation, you’ll have hell to pay unless you collectively wise up.
SS is not the problem. It goes red for a decade and then goes very black for forty years before the youngest millennials (now 24) turn 67. So you have 50 years to do something. You could raise retirement a month a year until you get to 70. But you don’t need to do that for about 30 years.
The reality is we have no idea what things will be like then. So why are we letting the press paint republicans as the ones who want to kill SS. Its dumb. SS does not need to be fixed in our lifetimes.
