Then maybe you should stay off of it...

I have no problem with blogs. If you don't like blogs, don't post on FR.

Humblegunner was the absolute worst thing about FR. Don’t try to carry on his garbage. It’s not a good look.

Why did the fire crews leave the scene? I don't know much about firefighting, but it would seem to me that they would not leave until the fire was completely out.

Years ago I lived half a block from a reputed mafia arson hit on a famous Philadelphia restaurant and nightclub, Palumbo's, gathering place of all the Italian-American entertainers and every Philly politician for a century, even some Republicans. I met Frank Rizzo there, and also Teddy Kennedy, whose handshake was like a dead fish (I know, right?).

The sodden heap of charred hundred-year-old wooden beams, tables, chairs, bars and stools, liquor bottles, drapery, carpets and hundreds of framed photos of celebrities shaking Mr. Palumbo's hand actually re-ignited three times over the next several days. Could have been the arsonist sneaking back; could have been spontaneous—but where's the drama in that? I'll never forget the smell of it.

The half-a-block site where Frank Sinatra, Louie Prima, Mario Lanza, Eddie Fisher, Al Martino, Frankie Avalon, Bobby Rydell and Jimmie Durante held court became a little brick Rite Aid with a big parking lot. They paved paradise.

Ok...
Let me try to justify my position..
I donate to this site.
I come here to read articles about subjects that interest me.
There’s nothing worse than beginning to read an article, only to be told to go to some foreign website, that I have not heard of, to finish reading an article that could have been posted in it’s entirety right here.
The only reason for that is to direct traffic to that site.
The blog probably gets paid for my click, and they are usually infested with commercials.

This is why I always tell the poster to just post the whole thing right here.

I don’t understand why people on this site allow this crap to continue.
For whatever reason humblegunner has taken a vacation.
Blog pimping has gone WAY up.
Personally, I find it very annoying, considering that I pay to use this site.
Do the blogpimpers?

Ah, I remember it well. One of my buddy's mother in law tended bar there.

The only edit I'd make to your post, and it's because I would travel in circles that no reputable gentleman would, is after two failed attempts, they finally hired "MoTown" to finish the job, and he didn't disappoint. FWIW - he burned down the 700 club on 11th below Christian shortly thereafter.

Oh, the good times of a mis-spent youth.

Thanks for the PING!

Palumbos was THE place to go for previous generations. That and The Latin Casino! (which was neither Latin nor a casino...caused me great childhood confusion!)

“The power lines didn’t short out until the poles burned down.”

Those would be the power lines of Blackrock-owned Maui Electric. Nothing suspicious here.

Assuming you are completely sincere, please be aware that other websites have copyright restrictions in some cases, and some threaten litigation if FreeRepublic.com simply re-posts their carefully researched and edited work verbatim.

I understand that completely.
Thank you for being respectful.
If people would say this when I post, instead of reacting like they do, things would be civil.

“it is hard for me to believe that people could deliberately do this to innocents.”

Tell that to the Jan. 6 prisoners. And the Precinct workers who are being arrested.

Lahaina went to hell, while Biden was looking for hair to smell?

Through Maui the fire tore, while Biden was dragging his beach chair to the Delaware shore?

The Latin Casino! (which was neither Latin nor a casino...caused me great childhood confusion!)

And it was in Jerszhey, right? I seem to remember passing it somewhere past the Ben Franklin, near Loehmann's, which is also now defunct. I miss it. Not that I have to dress that nice any more. Other than our chiesa's casual Sunday wear, I mainly go out to cut the grass. The Dylan generation who wouldn't live to see 30 is now pushing 80!

I’ve read the power poles in some places were put in in the 60’s.
