Since roughly 1945 the western world has been trying to wage war in only nice ways. Trying to make sure that only really bad people get hurt, making sure that no innocent people get hurt. We try not to break stuff, too.
At some point, decent countries are going to have to wake up and remember that war is actually hell and the only way to really win is to make the war so stupendously awful that the other guy never wants to fight you again.

I did not agree with Israel trading prisoners for hostages. When you reward kidnapping you only get more of it. The least they could have done is released them under a simple condition: they are to be instantly executed if they ever set foot on Israel territory ever again.
