The Chosen Rise Up —- http://TheChosenRiseUp.com

SPOILERS OKAY here on this thread

Now that Episodes 1-3 of Season 4 have been in theaters for ONE week and has held a SOLID #2 Nationwide position for Theatrical releases for the past 7 days -RAW theatrical revenue Data here: https://www.boxofficemojo.com/releasegroup/gr4002566661/?ref_=bo_rl_su

As of this posting: $10,317,554 (Worldwide for just episodes 1-3)

With episodes 4,5,6 to be released in theaters on 15 February 2024 it is time to talk through Episodes 1-3

I am particularly interested in what FReeper chosen fans or chosen haters have to say about the NON-Biblical atory lines playing out in the series.

Love or hate them I think it is important to discuss and opine if you think the “extra-Biblical” storylines which make the entire series fun to watch in my opinion.

Do these storylines make you question what is Bible TRUTH or are you able to easily follow the show mentally separating what is Bible TRUTH and what is Artistic Liberty/License in creating characters, narratives, conversations events that are plausible but certainly not Divinely inspired scripture.

I do - and have not yet posted my thoughts on the ending of episode 3 season 4. I am just inviting and quite frankly want to read others comments before adding mine.

Watched the first 3 seasons on Peacock - expecting season 4 to hit it late March to mid-April - love how they portray everyone as real people ....

Ok…I’ll jump in. I saw Raman’s death coming from the start of the screening when Dallas said in the intro that something shocking happened at the end of episode 3 and to not spoil it. The actress has the other gig on NCIS Hawaii and has had some contractual issues between the two shows. She missed about 1/2 of season 3 because of the conflict, and I did not think she figured much into season 4. Then Dallas made that statement, then they start down that extra-Biblical marriage plot line and I said to myself, she’s dead. No big shock. No big loss. However, it will be interesting to see how they deal with the aftermath.

If you don’t want to read any spoilers from episodes 1-3 of season 4 you should not read this thread.

Fair warning I will be commenting on the relationship between Thomas and Rhema and specifically the WOW moment at the end of episode 3. Anyone care to start with your thoughts on where this storyline is headed.

Of course we alll know Thomas is/was a real apostle who followed Jesus - Rhema is a ChosenISM character.

That said. - who wants to go first ?

So many conflicting opinions on how Jesus reacted or did not react when Rhema was dying in the arms of Thomas

Many believe that Jesus should have just “fixed it” but we only have very few recorded resurrections from the DEAD - and certainly if Jesus had raised Rhema from the dead in front of a mob crowd - that would be a non-biblical storyline gone too far. But dealing with grief and especially our “Doubting Thomas” brings much insight into how the chosen will grow the backstory or this Apostle.

I find the extra Biblical side story lines boring and annoying.

The parts where he sticks to Scripture are great, but all the interactions with the women and setting up a business venture to fund the ministry, etc is a waste of time and frankly, I find it boring.

The parts where the disciples start bickering isn’t exactly Scriptural but not out of character for them based on what Scripture alludes to.

I haven't seen the latest, but thought I'd comment on the series in general. Firstly, I don't have any problem with the isogesis that goes on in the Chosen or movies like the latest Abraham movie "His Only Son", as long as it does not conflict with the character as we know him/her from the Bible. I rather think Satan delights in the division and fighting that goes on over this kind of thing.
Secondly, a friend thought The Chosen was dangerous because it might lead someone to Mormonism 🤦🏼‍♀️but I think if it leads a person who has zero exposure to Jesus, and that person is inspired to pick up a Bible and learn more, God bless.

I find the extra Biblicsl storylines facinating from an artistic liberty standpoint

Respectfully disagree with your assessment and statement that the extra-Biblical storylines are “boring”. Frankly it is precisely those storylines that make the TV show NOT boring.

If the show was claiming to be 100% scripturally accurate portrayals I think the show would be boring - who needs another “translation” of scripture —. The TV is NOT claiming to be a translation it IS historical fiction at its best in my opinion and the fact that people are calling out and discussing the non-Biblical ChosenISMs makes for great entertainment that forces the viewer to actually read their Bible

A Doubting Thomas with a reason. Extra Biblical of course. But it is plausible.

Just discovered this a couple of weeks ago, have seen S1 and S2 and am into S3. I was very, very skeptical at first, with actually more criticisms about the acting and trivial setting issues.

I’m more into it now, still find it a little stiff but now enjoying the historical digressions. I have looked things up because of the back stories...was Andrew really that close to John the Baptist, etc.

Watched 4 or 5 episodes the 1st season & tried to get into it, but found it boring. Seemed like it was moving at a snail’s pace.
