Why would Russia want to attack the West? What purpose could it serve?
The only explanation is comic book evil. That is the logic of the entire American Empire: everything is a comic book.
If they even art doing a troop buildup – and they’re not – they would be doing it defensively because NATO is constantly issuing all these threats. The head of NATO recently announced he is planning a decades-long war with Russia.

Ukraine is the MIC gift that will continue to pay off. Long after the last of the Uke cannon fodder has been sent down range, we will still be involved in the new generational, multi trillion dollar Cold War II arms race that we’ve been blundered into.
Russia doesn’t want the world. He wants a part of Ukraine that was mostly Russians. Crimea should have NEVER been given to Ukraine. And Crimea and the other area have always had special status.

Crimea wasn't given to Ukraine. It is historically a Tatar territory that was/is much more akin to Ukraine than it ever was to Moscow, except by conquest. Moscow ethnically cleansed Tatars from Crimea as late as 1944.

Russia which 2021 compared to us had not one real working carrier, 55% of our ground forces, 47% of our air force, 43% of our naval force, 44% of our population, 40% the number of men reaching military age, 1/10 our GDP, 1/5 our PPP, 1/10 our defense budget, an IC 1/3 our manpower, less high tech, less industry, less allies, weaker allies...
But yes, today Russia is building up.

Since we pulled that NATO East expansion idea from our @ss in October 2021, Russia has effectively doubled their defense budget in terms of GDP, cancelled START last year, and taken on an entirely advesarial approach to us everywhere they can. Yes, the world is a more dangerous place today, congratulations, I suppose.
Let the proxy wars begin anew. I guess we didn’t learn from our fathers, or maybe we just liked it that way? For whatever reason, this new Cold War we find ourselves in, is one of our making.

NATO has never attacked Moscow. It was formed because, as Stalin put it himself, “It’s high time the Slavic race was in charge of Europe”, and was acting on that theory right into 1948. Stalin fooled Roosevelt into thinking that Moscow would allow free and fair election in Poland, Romania, Hungary, and other nations occupied by the Red Army. Didn’t happen. The only one that was able to fight against Communist subversion was Czechoslovakia, and the Reds suppressed that brutally. Then there was Moscow’s attempt to subvert Greece, and to take over Trieste.
Why is it that I have to teach high school history here?
