I lived in SoCal..still have family and friends there. Two of my Nieces went to Berserkly...spent thousands of dollars for stupid degrees...in "Foreign Dance"....and "Modern Poetry".
Last I heard they were waitresses.
What a tragedy. I suspect she was aware that her son may have had a history of drug usage.
50 years ago I tried cocaine once at a party and based on the high I got, I recognized how one could become addicted to it and vowed never to try it again.
That was when cocaine was just cocaine. Nowadays, they're lacing coke with all kinds of powerful crap such as fentanyl and meth where the first experimental use of it can kill you.
Losing her son is unfortunate and I cannot imagine her grief. It's just as sad for folks who hold these elites in high regard and listen to their advice.
We have similar case in my college town. A freshman engineering student was found dead last month during a severe cold spell late at night. Too much alcohol or drugs seems to be in play. A toxicology report hasn't been released yet...
10 years ago I might have had compassion for Wojcicki. Now, not so much.
Troper should be nominated as a Darwin Award candidate, 2024.
That’s funny! When I went to school I had a professor who always mocked people, who got useless degrees such as “Underwater Basket-Weaving!
Yep, she was part of Youtubes start of banning anything conservative, Republican, decency, or common sense.
That or this new class of drugs being reported on. It’s posted on FR.
Dunno but lots of press lately about nitazenes which are stronger than Fentanyl.

At least he was taken before he reproduced.
Really? News to me. You live here? (Not asking sarcastically.)
I've lived here 27 years, I've found in general everyone's too busy and goal-driven to get heavily messed up with drugs. That could be a function of the crowd I hang out with / my profession.
If you have first hand knowledge otherwise, I'd love to hear it.
The HBO comedy series Silicon Valley does give that impression. Yes it’s a satirical comedy but good satire has to have an element of truth in it to be good!
I reread that line. She wasn't coming out against free speech. She was asking for clarity. If governments want to impose restrictions on free speech they should clearly define what those restrictions are. On the other hand she was for restrictions here at home (Covid, WHO..etc)
I've been involved in a number of start-ups. No major dope use among the engineering staff. Some pot smoking by a few, sure, but nothing heavy. No coke. I can't speak for management, I try to avoid them as much as possible.
I wouldn't trust anything put out by HBO - even in humor - as an indicator as to any level of reality. Day-in-day-out Silicon Valley is a very unglamorous, high-stress place.
Ok funny series though - a Mike Judge of “King of the Hill” & “Idiocracy” ,etc satirical fame production.
Me I am hateful I do not apologize but I am always happy when tragedy strikes Dems
Well the elite finally get to enjoy some diversity.
Wait until ms13 finds out kidnapping from Harvard is very lucrative.
She is viciously against free speech and ruthlessly enforces it on YouTube. She claims to be a neutral channel like a phone company, and so she is free from content lawsuits. YET, she also exercises full editorial control like a publisher.
She either needs to lose lawsuit protection for content, or she needs to stop her rabid censorship.
