NASCAR teams tell AP they've hired top antitrust lawyer on eve of Daytona 500
Associated Press ^ | 02/18/24 | JENNA FRYER

As if NASCAR didn't already have major issues, this article comes out that NASCAR and the France Family are at an impasse with the Owners and Drivers of the Sport to the point the owners have hired a top Anti-Trust Lawyer to advise them. Since Dale Earnhardt Sr. died, my interest in NASCAR has steadily faded, however, I will be watching later today as the weather has cleared and the race should start on time. You had to think sooner or later that the iron fist rule of the France Family over NASCAR would be challenged, and it appears that day has come.

I’m not sure what happened to the original post, I got a system error when I posted it, and it looks like it has been deleted.

I’ve thought there was an opening for a series based on traditional stock car racing, adjusting only for modern safety measures. Bring back the short tracks, add some road tracks, and wave those Confederate flags.

I saw an interview with one of the new owners yesterday and I wasn’t impressed. He reminded me of a used car salesman.

The tracks are empty and the NASCAR model has failed—finally. There is a chance for a new sanctioning body to come along, but the way NASCAR has messed up it will be hard for any group to recover the goods ole days.

Putting Toyota in the lineup put NASCAR on life support. The new stupid rules finished it off.

Not that I hate Toyota, I have two of them.

I’ve often how the France Family maintained complete control over NASCAR over the series as the TV viewership and attendance has steadily decreased. In terms of drivers, over time they all look and sound alike, they get the top rides long before they should when compared to people like Earnhardt Sr., just a whole lot of reason why new ideas and management might be needed.

The NFL is regulated as an entertainment biz.

Handy, that.

How about NOOSECAR...?

“wave those Confederate flags”
I seem to remember being told that NASCR lynched Bubba Wallace. In attempt to make amends for NASCAR racism, shouldn’t they be waving rainbow flags? NASCAR social justice warrioring can only continue to make the sport stronger.

Good post.

Bill France (”Big Bill”) was a huge, violent, ruthless man, who started NASCAR so long ago. He was not a nice guy. Look him up.

The France family has an iron tight grip on NASCAR, and are fabulously wealthy from it. They are not known for being nice, either.

I hope the teams succeed.

“...shouldn’t they be waving rainbow flags?”

Wonder who will be the first Trans driver? Imagine the the step into a car and wave at the crowds.

NASCAR has been run as a dictatorship by the France Family for a long time, the business is failing, TV viewers are off, tracks are empty except for a couple of races, it will be pretty much packed today for the 500, but otherwise the tracks are empty.

IMO, NASCAR forgot who its customers are, they wanted to bring in a new crowd thinking it would benefit in the long run, that type of plan always fails.

I don’t know what the complete answer is, but I do know the current way of doing business is not working and changes are needed.

It’s a private company.

They can run it anyway they want.

I’m interested in whether or not NOOSECAR gets any regulatory and/or tax breaks from Deep State.

If so, what and for what.

Counting down until all racing is forced to go electric.

Being a prick might have been necessary in the 60s and 70s when the sport was a bunch of shade tree mechanics and good ole boys driving like maniacs in real stock cars.

Now the Team Owners are sophisticated and hugely successful business owners, people like Rick Hendrick and Roger Penske are not fools, treating them like the hired help is not a good idea.

They can run it anyway they want but they could also run it into the ground and will need people like Rick Hendrick and Roger Penske to pick up the pieces in future.

Counting down until all racing is forced to go electric.

They'll race for 30-40 minutes full bore then pit for 10 hours to recharge. That will bring in the crowds. OTH, the wrecks will be outstanding and will burn for days!
