The world’s leading meat producer, Tyson Foods Inc., announced the closure of its largest pork packing plant in Iowa this week as the company transitions towards insect farming to produce “meat alternatives.”
The meat giant also indicated that four additional plants would close by mid-fiscal 2024, just days after announcing the closure of two major chicken plants.

And regarding prices. We just share a beef with a friend when we need more. And the total average price is around $4 a lb. There is an amazing butcher in this area that cuts mind bogglingly good steaks. One of the perks of living rural.😁

(2024 is going to be one for the history books, like 1939. And 2025 will be more so, like 1940-1945.)

The plant closure story is also at USA Today, as well as a few other sites. But, the reason Tyson gives has to do with plant efficiency. This is an old plant they’re closing, partly because they can’t add a second shift to increase output.

I was generally surprised when I saw this article was not sourced from The Babylon Bee.
Truly surprised.

I occasionally can find it at our WinCo Foods individually sealed in vacuum bags for $7.98 #.
I always buy one to keep on hand - I just happen to be out currently...
Flank steak is $12.00 a # and up at most stores in town. Whole Foods always has some nice ones for $18.99 - I have yet to purchase one form them...
Happy spring, Friend!

Yep. Today's "right-wing conspiracy theory" is tomorrow's reality. The alarming thing about Tyson's seemingly suicidal moves is that they may have inside information that meat productions will actually be banned, or at least severely restricted.
Another thing about these "conspiracy theories" is that they arise because people like us listen to what the globalists are saying and we think they mean what they say.

"Plant efficiency" is a very useful term to camouflage/justify less palatable reasons.

I never buy Tyson, even though a BIL works for them, managing their feed production (corn, soybean, etc.)
I’ll have to check to see if he’ll be losing his job. He should be close to retiring by now.

Prepper ping - Tyson closing another meat plant to transition to ' Insect Farming'
Now ask yourself, why do meat packing plants convert from meat,to a cultural unknown, undesireable protein source ?
Who or what would motivate them for such a drastic change ?.. (reminds me of the EV policy promoted by the Fed) ?
