For my sins, over the years I've suffered through countless Joe Scarborough rants. In recent times, Donald Trump has, of course, been Scarborough's favorite target.
But for sheer anger and vitriol, it would be hard to match Scarborough's tirade against Benjamin Netanyahu at the opening of today's Morning Joe.
Scarborough attacked Netanyahu for purposes of defending Chuck Schumer's shocking speech on the Senate floor yesterday, calling for regime change in Israel and the ejection of Netanyahu as Israeli Prime Minister.
Scarborough had the chutzpah to depict himself as the virtual True Defender of Israel, a veritable modern-day Judah Maccabee. He bragged about being "somebody who supported Israel my entire life. A guy who's spoken before AIPAC my entire life. My God."

Scarborough utterly failed to address the trenchant point that Mitch McConnell made in response to Schumer’s speech:
“It is grotesque and hypocritical for Americans who hyperventilate about foreign interference in our own democracy to call for the removal of a democratically elected leader of Israel.”

It’s JUST like Russia and Hungary. You have a leader supported by 80 to 90 PERCENT of his people (temporarily, in the case of Israel, though), and the US is DEMANDING ‘Regime Change’ due to its own, selfish, reasons (in the case of Israel, to try to win Michigan and Minnesota).
Does it not occur to anyone that maybe the people who live in those countries DO NOT WANT a ‘Regime Change’.

The critics of Netanyahu including secular Jews in the US think a kindly, weak, compromising traitor as a replacement for him will bring flower child like peace and good vibes. The Middle East is not Woodstock. Any weakness perceived by the Arabs will mean more massacres.

Unless you are somehow really attached to Netanyahu, replacing him with someone (Benny Gantz) who has the exact same policy on Gaza and the Palestinians will make no difference whatsoever. There’s no point getting upset with the US meddling in another sovereign state’s affairs by undermining a legitimate government. It’s what we do, DC can’t help itself. We’re entitled to call the shots for the rest of the world. I just wish someone would clue Putin in about our prerogatives.
