SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - A high school quarterback has asked officials to erase his record-setting pass because his coach had made a deal with the opposing team to let him complete it.

Nate Hassis' Springfield Southeast High School team let Cahokia High School score a touchdown late in Saturday's game, which Cahokia won 42-20. In exchange, Cahokia made no effort to keep Haasis from completing a 37-yard pass that gave him a record.

In post-game comments Saturday, both coaches acknowledged arranging the deal during a time-out.

The completion gave Haasis 5,006 yards for his career, setting a new record for the Central State Eight Conference and making him one of 12 Illinois high school quarterbacks to pass for more than 5,000 yards.

But in a letter to the president of the conference, Haasis asked that the pass be stricken from the record books.

"While I admittedly would like to have passed the record, as I think most high school quarterbacks would, I am requesting that the Central State Eight does not include this pass in the record books," Haasis wrote.

Hassis said the yardage he passed for in his career "required a lot of cooperation and hard work from my teammates. I do not wish to diminish the accomplishments that were made in the last three years."

The conference is expected to approve Haasis' request at its monthly meeting Wednesday.

How exciting Carolina to be in Scotland though. It is lovely over there isn't it? I am Scottish meself, and wish so much I could visit the area! I watch BBC America a lot and it appears almost as biased to the left as CNN is! But I still prefer it to some of our newsreaders!

Happy Halloween, and welcome home. Hope you will fill us all in sometime about your adventures!

Happy Halloween BWB and All Guilders Everywhere!

Today is the first cool morning we have had here in the Central Valley of California. We had record heat earlier this week, but it has turned cool just in time for the kiddies to Trick or Treat tonight! From 90+ degrees on Monday and Tues, to the 60's today! Normal weather around here, Summer to winter in one week!

heheh - one thing I enjoy about them is that the presenters look like real people and not beauty pageant contestants.

It's really wonderful news about the change in SoCal's weather.

Go Rain Go - pour, in fact.

Rosie O'Donnell is a toilet-tongued, temper-tantrum-tossing tyrant whose ego led to the destruction of her Rosie magazine, a lawyer for her former publisher said yesterday. In opening statements for a multimillion dollar breach-of-contract case between magazine bigs Gruner + Jahr USA and O'Donnell, G + J lawyer Martin Hyman said the former talk-show host turned her back on the magazine when the publishers refused her directions to make it "edgy."

"She's addicted to getting her own way," Hyman said, but some of her suggestions were too bizarre to take.

"She wanted to put Mike Tyson, a convicted rapist, on the cover of this women's magazine," Hyman complained. rest of story.

SD County Update:Most of the fires are either contained or being contained thanks to lower temperatures and slight rain-more rain is forecast. Many folks remain evacuated from their homes though as some areas are still not safe. Interestingly, the ones who are still at evac centers are the ones whose homes are intact but in dangerous areas. Those whose homes were lost are able to go to hotels etc because the insurance coverage allows that.

I have spent most of the day doing catch-up errands. The roads and businesses are mostly open. Things pile up when Nature intervenes.

The people of San Diego are coming through for our fire victims in a big way...all kinds of generosity and drives for food and clothes are planned. A great public outpouring of support....I love America and Americans! We are a good and generous people (for the most part!)

I heard on the radio that in San Diego the San Diego Pardres baseball team and a few other celebs realized that all the children who's homes were burned down, won't be having Trick or Treat tonight. So they decided to gather up the kids and the community, the Padres and other celebs are throwing them a bigO party, with candy and toys and all. Pretty cool Huh? Poor kids. They've lost all their stuff. I can't even imagine how horrible that must be. God bless them.

How are you? Please keep us posted. I lived in Oceanside for 5 years. It's hard when you don't get up to the minute news as to how it's going back home.

How wonderful of the Padres! You know, just when you think that some sports heroes are just fantasies of the mind, they do something like this!
