America's Original Homeland Security

TOPICS: Humor
KEYWORDS: banglist; homelanddefense; rkba; secondamendment
Let's not forget that muskets were "assault weapons" when the Second Amendment was ratified.

And contrary to whatever the Leftists claim, "the People" means the People, not the National Guard.

Looks like good opportunity to point out the SAFER event will be held on Mother's Day, Sunday May 9, 2004 in Washington, DC. That's the Second Amendment Freedoms for Everyone Rally.

Beautiful job.

I got a button at the last state GOP convention with similar words to that. T'was one of my faves of the buttons I collected.

Fiddlstix, I still remember the day when you came up with the original "bang list".

I tried to post to the list and messed it up. All the "bangs" went to you!

And contrary to whatever the Leftists claim, "the People" means the People, not the National Guard.

Sort of. Muskets, capable of being fitted with bayonets, were short-ranged weapons capable of being quickly reloaded, then used for follow-up work once those equipped with them closed with their enemies. Accordingly, the current equivalent of those early militia weapons would be short-barrelled fighting shotguns, still a nasty and effective weapon in close, especially indoors or at night.

The real *assault rifle of the American Revolutionary War period would have been Ferguson's breechloading flintlock rifle, which offered both the accuracy of the rifled weapons of that way with a speed of reloading even superior to that of those smoothbore *Brown Bess* muskets mostly carried by other British troops.

As a part of the federal standing army, the National Guard can scarcely claim to be the militia as described in the constitution, so it becomes difficult to believe many of their other claims beyond that point. It's clear that to those who wrote and ratified our constitution, the militia was the American people. And today's National Guard is the standing army many of them warned us about.
