The Ghost of Republicans past.

I very rarely post a thread. I am very happy to sit back and read everyone elses. That being said..something has had me aggitated for months now, and I finally have taken the time to post this.

My question? Where are the Republicans? I have watched a brave Republican President and his staff come under fire for months upon months. I have seen him (the President) criticized about everything from borders not being secured ( I happen to have a problem with this one!),to whether or not the war in Iraq was called for, to these stupid investigative dog and pony shows over 9-11, to the partial birth abortion bill..and on and on we go. BUT..I see virtually no sitting Republicans in front of the cameras. Where the heck are they? Where were they when Judge Moore was under fire? Have they left town? And what about Rush? How many of them owe him a debt of gratitude and yet none have come to voice their opinion, much less help him out at all.

For having a sitting President..they are all under rocks. They are not out here helping the cause at all. Why are President Bush's numbers dropping? Well, hey..the guy not only has all the dems and media jumping down his back..he also has a no show when it comes to his Republican house and senate. They are worthless..they need to be ejected and they need to know it is because of their non stance for this President and his administration.

In my book it is pretty sad when the President, vice President and his staff have to go to bat for themselves. In years gone by..they (the Republicans) would have been in front of the cameras raising heck. That is where they need to be now. Heck..they aren't anywhere to be seen. I did not vote them in so they could go hide when things got tough or things did not go their way. This is pitiful and I am ashamed of most of them.

Had to get that off my chest and hope you will have the answer to my question. Thanks.

At times it seems like the Republicans in Congress (the genuine Republicans, not just the RINOs) forget that they have the majority in both the House and the Senate.

The House Republicans have some guts. The Senators are mostly worthless. Just cast your mind back to impeachment.

Perhaps you are confusing conservatives with Republicans. The two terms, at this point in time, are not necessarily congruent.

I thought the same thing.

Maybe the Pres, being the leader of the party, has asked then to hold off for now. Let the D's shoot all their bullets.

Your first post 100% on the mark! The republicans lack the nerve, the articulation, in my opinion they often lack the intelligence to adequately defend the president or anything else. They also believe (and I speak from long, bitter local experience) that it is beneath them to "stoop" to the democrats' tactics.

I'm sorry, but this republican disease runs very deep. In recent days I saw Newt Gingrich praising Joe Biden for being "fair and reasonable" when Biden is touting a new Vietnam, wants Iraq turned over to the UN, and has said America's defeat in Iraq will be a good thing.

Newt was on the Hannity radio show the other day and when the subject of disproportionate media treatment for republicans/ dems came up, Newt just calmly said that was a fact of life and dems simply can get away with way more than republicans.

What the republicans ultimately forget is that I don't put them there for their "high minded" wimpiness. I put them there to protect me and my family in a dangerous world, and letting leftists walk all over them puts us in danger.

That's a good point, where in hell are you when even the GOP groupies won't stand with you?

I think the attitude is, "Let the socialists ramble on so that people can see how evil they are." As long as the poll numbers show that Bush is, more or less, even with Kerry in April then things are good. That may be their thinking. :-)

The problem is that the Republican "leadership" in Congress has not pursued matters like Memogates I and II. They've dropped the ball on a number of matters.

This all predates "the election".

I agree that President Bush may have told Republicans in Congress "that's not the way we are going to do things" (the supression of details about the Democrats' trashing of the White House was a tip off of this strategy).

Maybe it does show a different approach to the Democrats' strategy of the politics of personal destruction but sometimes the best defense is a good offense.

Rope a Dope only works when you can get the media to get your message out (or the media to expose instances where the other side torpedoes their own agenda).

There have been a lot of Republicans out in public making statements in support of PresBush, his administration and his policies. Its very easy to criticize. It's harder to lead and make difficult decisions. The criticism of the President plays right into the gameplan of the librat establishment and the partisan media. Their voices are loud and relentless, and their desperation is obvious. They want to regain power and control of the government, at any cost. Hang on. There's over six more months to go.

Thanks for responding Reagan Man, and I can see your view to a point. That being said..how the heck does this look to the rest of the world? To me..I think it looks like the terrorists, the European weak knees, etc. have done their job..i.e. brought the numbers and support for President Bush down.

I am just afraid if we aren't all diligent..he will lose. And while I may not agree with everything he does or doesn't do..I would so much rather have President Bush over Kerry. I think..if this is some kind of game plan..it is a dangerous one to play. And may very well backfire.

>>>..how the heck does this look to the rest of the world?

Frankly, I don't care what the rest of the world thinks about America. Some may call that an arrogant attitude. I call it a confident attitude. We've saved the world more then once in the last century, from the onslaught of totalitarianism and its many forms, facism, nazism and communism. And now we have began an effort to purge the world of the terrorism, that is Islamofacism. Some of us on the political right, believe we are fighting our own internal "ism" right here in the good old USA. Its called, liberalism.

Freedom isn't free. The political battles are only part of the overall fight for freedom. Members of the US military are dying in Iraq and around the entire world today, to assure all Americans can live in freedom.

And I'm confident George W.Bush will win reelection.
