Woman accused of boiling-oil attack
By Rebecca Nolan The Register-Guard
A Eugene woman is accused of pouring boiling oil on her boyfriend's face during an argument about a Bible verse, Eugene police said.
Angel Shuntaria Morris, 19, is being held in the Lane County Jail on a charge of first-degree domestic violence assault. Bail is set at $250,000.
Her 31-year-old boyfriend was taken to Oregon Health & Science University Hospital in Portland for treatment of severe burns to his face, neck and chest, Eugene police Sgt. Scott McKee said.
The couple, who have been dating for about eight months, were reading the Bible at the boyfriend's Arthur Place apartment near Westmoreland Elementary School early on May 13 when the argument began. The building is owned by the University of Oregon.
The woman went to the kitchen and began preparing french fries in a pan of hot oil, police said.

The boyfriend followed her into the room and the couple continued arguing. The woman told police the man grabbed her from behind during the dispute.
The man went to his bedroom and reclined on the bed. The woman followed him and allegedly threw the oil at his face, McKee said.
Someone called 911 at 2:59 a.m.
When officers arrived, they found the man in severe pain with ghastly burns to his face, and the woman walking away from the apartment.
She later told police that she poured the grease on her boyfriend because she was angry, McKee said.
First-degree assault is a Measure 11 crime, carrying a mandatory sentence of 90 months in prison.
Was the verse "Thou shalt not kill?" /sarcasm.
Note to self: Never argue with a woman who is holding a pot filled with boiling oil.
Im willing to bet it had something to do with being subserviant
WHICH Bible verse?
< g >
This guy was obviously not familiar with the life saving phrase: "Yes Dear"
Hey a new convert to Islam.
Sounds like neither of them was particularly paying attention to the Bible :o)
She shoulda just skipped on to Ephesians 5:25-31.
See how dangerous lack of Biblical literacy can be? < g >
Bible ping.
How do you boil oil????
The only constant in the whole thing is the serenity of those who advise, "Find a nice Christian boy or girl and your troubles will be over." And then they read this, and they think, "damn." |
I'll bet you're right.
A Bible study doesn't usually end up quite like this. But if he was beating her over the head with the only verse he knew ...
It doesn't save your life, but it does ruin your marriage.
I know, I know, you were being funny, and I need to lighten up.
I do a lot of counseling with married couples, and often deal with the consequences of "yes dear" marriages.
I do wonder though, if either one of them had read the Bible recently . . . may have been the only verse he knew.
Didn't apply to him anyhow . . . she's not a wife, and he's not a husband. Maybe this is the consequence of misapplying Scripture? ;-)
