No such thing as an HTML picture. HTML is a code that can REFER to picture files (.jpeg,.gif,.png) and place them here or there on a page. Pop up on he picture and choose from the menu to save a picture file to your disk. Use a graphic converter to convert formats if you need to.

You must be using Mozilla. I'd seen a couple of odd times that images saved with an HTML extension.

Get Irfanview. You can open most any image and it'll recognize the incorrect extension and rename. (It'll ask you for permission).

Alt + PrintScreen button to capture the top or "Active" window, paste in your favorite image editing software and save-as .jpg.

Pressing "PrintScreen" button alone will do an entire screen capture, then you'll have to paste in your image editor 'crop' out the parts you don't want.

Good luck.

If you can explain to me that just a capture will fall into FR without pulling it from a remote site, I will give you a BIG kiss.

I load all my images on Host File in order to use them on Free Republic.

I also have SnagIt, but that just saves into one of my folders on my hard drive.

WHOA! Brooklyn, thank you. The directions you gave also included directions for Mac. Just what I've been looking for.

Sorry Lion,

The only way I see it working is by either linking to the image you found by using the current host location ...

... or continue to do what you've been doing by uploading the 'snagged' image on a web-host, and linking to it from there.

Either way will work. But unfortunately you can't just right-click and copy an image and paste it right in FreeRepublic.

Either way will work. But unfortunately you can't just right-click and copy an image and paste it right in FreeRepublic.

That's what I have been doing for years! Uploading to a remote location then inserting the image into FR. But the way more in here are making it sound, all you have to do is capture and/or save the image to your hard drive and then you can insert it in a post. That's why I wanted to know the magic action!

Thanks, Buell!

no sute waht you mean. HyperText Markup Lanuage (HTML) is just a coding system tha affects how resourses are dispaled on the page. Only hardware needed is a mouse, only software a browser.

plase cursor over picture, right click, follow menu instructions.
