I know that Darryl Worley will be on stage at the RNC convention. I'm betting He'll sing "Have You Forgotten." I'm wondering if their might be a surprise performer one night.
What would happen if the opening bars of "Angry American" (Courtesy Of The Red White And Blue) came over the speakers and Toby Ketih rose up on that circular stage? You know that, whether he alluded to "the American way" or not, just singing the song would really piss off the libs (particularly Peter Jennings) and would absolutely delight Bush supporters.
God, I hope not.
If you think the media had fun spinning the '92 convention as 'mean spirited' because of Buchanan's speech... wait 'till they get done with 'we'll put a boot in yer arse...'
Don't like country music? That song? Or is it just Toby Keith?
My dream line is Schwarzenegger saying "John Kerry and his running mate aren't girlie men--they just vote that way."
I like that song and I bought that CD by Toby Keith, and I am not one to buy CD's...Toby Keiths is only country one I own just for The Angry American song...Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue...I love it, and it gives me goose bumps. I rarely listen to country music, although some of it is very good.
Peter Jennings is a jerk, and He is one that got me to buy it when he wouldn't let TK sing it on TV. Canadians have no business coming here making big bucks and stomping on America. It is the redneck, soldier, blue collar workers, farm hands and other industrial/manufacturing sweat that makes us Great! Without them there wouldn't be any White Collar Jobs now, there had to be a foundation and it was laid by the ones who came ..irish, italian, german, english, and those who wanted freedom and hard work more than oppression. Those who ran for land, laid the rails, raised the cows, pigs, horses and grain, etc.; without them the US would not be who it is today.
I get fired up too when I see those protesters, who if they really understood what America was about, wouldn't be out there doing what they are doing, they are just blind.
That song would be about the political equivalent to Pat Buchanan's 'M-16s at the ready' speech from the ill-fated 1992 Republican Convention.
Personally I don't like Toby Keith or his music, but I am happy he is making a living singing. I don't have a problem with country music. I like a lot of the older country stuff myself, before it turned pop. Personally I don't care who they have play at the convention. But I think Keith would be a bad choice. But if the people in charge want him, so be it. However if he did perform I would hope the people in charge would have him sing a song that doesn't have any footwear going in or out of peoples orifices. I think it would be a bad decision to let him sing "Angry American".
Yeah, but in 1992 it made Buchannan look like the twit he is. Post 9/11 this would have a totally different impact, and Toby Keith is a much more credible person. He's never worked for Ted Turner.
However, there will be other Americans watching the event, not just rotund bearded fellows wearing giant cowboy hats and flailing away on a fiddle.
OK, I don't flail on a fiddle. And I rarely wear a cowboy hat. But having been raised in New York before I moved to Tennessee as an adult I guarantee damn tee you that it would play real well down in the financial district, near the WTC, and even better in Queens and the other Burroughs.
It'll also play real well with Pittsburgh Stealers Fans (don't lay your hand on them), and truckers, and long shoremen, and most non-flaming types, and for sure with every damn serviceman, here or abroad. It'll also play real well with most everyone that I think really matters.
Now, the Bree and croissant crowd will get their buns in a twist.
This (New York raised) country boy will survive.
But where did you find a picture of me? ;^>
Toby Keith describes himself as a "conservative democrat."
So does Zel Miller. He's giving the keynote.
I describe myself as a "cynical liberal."
And your point is?
Toby Keith is a better choice than Brittany Spears.
When you are selling records its best to keep both sides covered...who knows how he really votes.
I was just saying that I read that Toby Keith describes himself as a conservative democrat. Why are you so bothered that I mentioned this?
