Nowthat the convetions are over, now that both candidates are out in "battleground" states, it is critical that we do not get over-confident in the commanding lead from our commander in cheif. I, like most of you are as bumped as I have ever been, but I am forcing myself to think of Bush as 10 POINTS DOWN! I am calling on all of you to take this stand and to work as hard as we possibly can to make sure that we close the deal on election day.
On the day after the election, when we have "come back" from this 10 point "defecit", we can all take pride in fighting to the end like a true champion. We are showing America and the world how to run a right, true, honest but fierce campaign and for this we should all be proud, but not until after election day. Let's finish this!!! Sixx
Some wisdom in that stance, imho.
You're absolutely right. Even W was downplaying the polls at his stop in Cleveland today.
We're gonna win it though. W will win by 9 pts and 330 EVs, and Thune will narrowly defeat Dasshole as well.
go Thune!
We're energized! No letting up.
I think you have a better chance of snowballing into a landslide if you keep talking landslide. There are a lot of voters who want to vote for the one who is going to win. Convince them that Bush has it in the bag, and you have their votes.
I don't think any Republicans are going to get complacent.
I agree with ur sentiments. Remember, the Dems are masters at getting the vote out. They do thier best work in this regard from the final weekend through election day.
>>I, like most of you are as bumped as I have ever been,<<
I'm not even going there----
Welcome to FR(I think).
From the Art of War (paraphrased and from very late night memory):
When you are strong, act as though you are weak. Build your army as though your advisary is ten times your size.
I want all 50 states come November :0)
I want to send a message to every dang liberal
Yup, your right. From those Dems that vote in two states, to the cemetary vote, to the illegal alien vote, to the felon vote, to voting 5-6 times in their own state, those Dems know every trick in the book.
I understand the premise you are adopting, but I heard an interesting comment yesterday. Bush has taken a nice lead. At this point he doesn't need to press. If he just plans out things so he can come off looking Presidential, confident and full of substance, Kerry will have one hell of a time catching up.
Coming out and campaigning every day might actually have some negative aspects. Don't look like you're press. Act relaxed and as though you didn't have a worry in the world.
Let Kerry press. In fact encourage him to. The look of desparation will do him in.
I hear what you are saying, and we can support Bush in positive ways, but let Kerry do the cramming and we'll just go positive. We've got a great product and the public knows it.
Even though I was happy to see the bounce, it has it's drawbacks as well. Supporters may get over confident and the media will go overboard when things start evening out again. Once again, President Bush can't win. When it's good news it's bad, when it's bad news, it's bad.
Perfect headline, correct attitude. Dracula ain't dead until the stake is through his heart and the November 3 sunrise has incinerated his bony corpse.
Welcome to Free Republic. Your right that we need to stay energized, but I'm still going to enjoy the recent boost in confidence.
P.S. Let's not forget the dirty tricks that will be played at the end as well. You know they've got something up their sleeve.
My what a very deceptive headline you have. /Little Red Riding Hood
Oh the anger at being deceived!
We will never sit on a lead. It is full boards until november baby.
No question they are sleazes. Thats why we can't affort to sit on our arse. We should each make a commitment to get 5-10 people who normally don't vote to get out there on election day and vote for W.
Even if THE WHOLE COUNTRY IS RED in the AOL Poll

No offense, but this is an oft-repeated bit of drivel.
People who are ten points down get desperate.
We should be behaving as if there were NO polls. Do what W has been doing, just plowing straight ahead, getting the work done.
The specter at the table posts are the ones I like the least around here, and not just because they're so obvious, but that they grow like mushrooms. Everyone who wants to be "different" posts a "Come on, folks, let's be real here" post.
Just keep the eye on election day and move forward. When you're down by ten points you act like Kerry is acting now--not exactly a prescription for success.
But if you are ahead and want to build a BIGGER lead, your joy and excitement gets contageous.
So, in brief: No thanks.
And they aren't limited by little annoiances like legalities.
It will interesting to see what kind of "coattails" President Bush has. We can begin to feel confident once [and if] we see Dem candidates distancing themselves from Kerry. If they embrace him on his way down the tubes, there might be a huge turnover of power to the Republicans.
If the Democrat voters believe that Kerry can't win, many will stay home. This might be a very good election for the Pubbies. Watch the House and Senate races and see if any candidates decline to be seen with Kerry.
Gee, it looks like Bill and Teresa might have found a way to duck out! :) [One might have been a fluke, but when two of them show up at the hospital, there seems to be a trend.]
You ARE confidant aren't you?
I was hoping it'd be over by Christmas this time.

No troll here, just a jacked up conservative after the convention!!! I too am enjoying the bounce, but I fear complacency. I also agree with the comments of others that it is good to lead so that "undecided" voters jump on the bandwagon. My message was just to you guys and the base. Let's finish this thing strong so the is NO question who the commander in cheif is! Thanks for the welcome. You guys ROCK!!!
I'm sure that Zell Miller could get elected!

My niece is 21, and isn't even sure if she's voting. I'm working on her, and I want her to convince her friends too. It's not easy.
The title sure got you on this thread pretty quick. Sorry it was only for disappointment.
This is what I've been saying for months!
The only poll that counts is the vote on Nov. 2nd.
Beyond that, it's total speculation.
I'm just going to have a peaceful quiet knowledge of KNOWING we are winning by humongeous numbers.
With a huge smile on my face!
But I won't gloat!
Just know it!
Then after we win,
I WILL SHOUT AND SING AND DANCE AND POST AND POST AND POST AND POST AND PRAISE THE LORD FOR VICTORY!!!!!!!
Every Republican everywhere needs to vote straight ticket this year. If your grandmother is running on the Dem ticket, vote against her. We've seen that in the Senate we need 60 Senators because that is the filibuster proof number. In the House, we need an edge of at least 30 votes. The defeat of the Left needs to be wide and deep and devastating.
It's nice of you to drive by, but you really should reply on your own thread.
Don't worry yourself there pillman...you can always dream the headline is true.
No drive by, just new to Free Republic. Is that OK? or is this your club which nobody can join? Man, what a welcome.....
He's pretty much of a anyone-but-Bush drone but yes, he has been a buchanan cheerleader in the past.
I am not thinking as us as 10 points up or down. I have seen to many polls going both directions to feel confident about a Bush win. I would like to think Bush could win this in a landslide since Kerry is such a bad candidate. I keep hoping the American public wakes up and doesn't vote for Kerry. But I have to face the facts that Kerry is going to win some big electorial votes state no matter what. Also I am counting on major rat fraud in some states. Hopefully Bush will be able to overcome all of this.
Welcome!
We have been hit, lately, with a lot of new sign-ups that are trolls. People are just looking out. Don't take it personally.
Welcome again.
Welcome aboard. Do your best to ignore the initiation phase. ;)
Now where were we...
"Please, do continue in your inanity."
Not thank you, I'll lead the fantasy voting league up to you and yours. Marginalization at it's funniest.
I think they got a new trick for this election, absentee ballots. They can vote in multiple states and for other people without them knowing. No telling what else they have came up with.
Not (sic) thank you...Blah, blah, blah...
I see you skipped right over proving what you claim.
