Having said that, he is undoubtedly a liberal putz, right? So I guess I have to denigrate him somehow....
"I don't recall her having a good reason for it."
As I recall, she had been very circumspect in her remarks, in deference to her then-younger daughter's feelings for her father. Brinkley had only stated that just because someone can write a good song full of feeling doesn't mean that he is that same person he writes from.
On the other hand, he's likely a liberal putz who sticks to music and not politics. As I recall, his only major political activity was trying to save blue-collar fishermen from being priced and taxed out of their own homes by nouveau-riche wannabes who moved into the Hamptons.
He's not on Bruce's Tour of Fools, and writes pretty damned good music. That's good enough for this old Joel fan. . .
Christy said that she would never criticize herself for listening to her heart.....
Before BJoel left his wife for Christy, he wrote a song for his soon-to-be ex, "I love you just the way you are."
Can you imagine her saying "Who is this new woman you're seeing?"
"UH, Christy Brinkley"
"Well, I can see that...."
I wondered why no comedian ever picked up on that....
