First Debate: President BUSH was truly shocked with KERRY
Michael Boggs | 10/09/04 | Michael Boggs

The first debate came to many of us as a shock. Not the debate itself, but the lies and deception that KERRY boldly repeated when questioned.

My entire family, friends, neighbors, and people in my workplace can relate to BUSH and his shocked replies, "Wrong time, wrong place, wrong war"?

A small group of people attempt to charge BUSH with "mental health problems" etc, for repeating "Wrong time, wrong place, wrong war" during the debate. I know that I have been in positions in the past where I too have been SHOCKED at situations, in which leaves me in dismay- Just as our President was SHOCKED with KERRY int he first debate. Does this mean next time, we are "shocked at something absurd- we have a mental illness? NO! Kerry and his flock are the illness.

The TRUTH is President BUSH was SHOCKED at the lies that KERRY comes up with- just as most "level-headed" (you and I) would be when in a position faced with absurd lies.

BUSH! Vote for the TRUTH!

'spect' he was....after all in most places when someone gets up in public and calls you a liar
you are well within your rights to walk over and kick the crap outta him...(which of course would have left Kerry with an empty head...hmmm not much of a change then after all)

I too think President Bush was shocked at the first debate but I think he was shocked by the questions. The questions were awful as in "have you stopped beating your wife?". Then he got mad and I think he was mad not only at Lehrer and his question but also at kerry and his lies. I hope some day, maybe when he is out of office in 2008, he will be able to speak of this.

I think that Bush did not take him seriously in the first debate or he thought that the voters would not take Kerry seriously. However, most voters are not very politically informed. He also appeared disgusted that he had to debate such a disingenuous pretender in a presidential campaign - which is understandable.

I would agree..Bush is not used to surrounding himself with, and dealing with, psychopathic liars, like Kerry. It is hard to counter outright lies, without lowering yourself to that level. Bush functions on a different level, especially as the President.

In retrospect, how do you debate a person that changes his previous position radically at will, and blatantly lies at will ??? How do you debate a "positionless" person??? Not an easy chore..but Bush has the biggest and most important ingredient on his side -- TRUTH, SUBSTANCE AND STABILITY.

It is easy to say, a particular person "won" a debate...but alot of that determination comes from HOW YOU MEASURE A WIN OR A LOSS. WHAT ARE YOUR CRITERIA?? I still say that the first debate was won by the person who you feel has the qualities you want in a President....if you want SUBSTANCE, Bush won. If you want lies and deceit and a phony empty suit that looks and sounds good, Kerry won.

Take you pick. I have. :-)

I agree that the line of questioning seemed to get a "What are you a dumbass, can't you see that..." response from the President in the first debate.

Donald Rumsfeld will actually call out the press on such matters when he is asked some dumb (or leading) question just so they can get a soundbite.

Weld has also gone on record in an interview saying the most difficult thing about debating Kerry is his ability to spout bald faced lies without a twitch. That is what happened to Weld. He just couldn't believe it.

Actually, I think Bush was frustrated because dispelling the inaccuracies in John Kerry's responses would've taken 5 minutes, and he only got 90-120 seconds, so he ended up sticking to his talking points and waiting for the post-debate coverage and his campaign speeches to deal with Kerry's lies.

Stupid MSM won't cover Kerry's lies and they won't cover all of Bush's attempts to debunk them. They will cover John Kerry's retorts and responses and attacks on the President... ad nauseam.

Emoss...
Electronic moss.
Yup, you're kinda stagnant and stationary in thought.

Kerry came across as ignorant, uninformed, and rather whiney like the kindergarten kid who had to one up everyone.
"I can do that too! I have five of those!"

And notice how he never actually answered any questions.
He also never said WHAT his plans were, merely said he HAD plans.
Then HIllaCOW came on and did her fake laugh and said she liked Kerry's healthplan.
WHAT health plan?
He never said anything detailing what it was!

Shocked?
Nope.
You guys are reaching.
I smell your desperation.

No such thing as a moderate republican. There USED to be such a thing as a conservative democrat, which is more welcome here than a liberal republican yapping they're about to vote for Kerry on their profile.

Welcome to Free Republic....for now.

You know how they say a rolling stone gathers no moss?
Emoss obviously doesn't need to worry about rolling.
He's stationary, pining for the fjords!

The victor in the debate was clearly Kerry. Bush looked like a monkey who had no script to read from. It is simple BUSH as President in the next 4 years will guarantee another 911 scale attack or Kerry who could actually do something to prevent an attack.

Whose watch did 911 occur on, Not Clinton, but Dubya. Simple Fact.

Kerry who could actually do something to prevent an attack.

How? And what in the blue hell has that coward done in the past 20 years in the senate to prevent one?

Ignore "whytry", the child troll just posted on another thread that 9/11 was no big deal.
