REGULAR CHURCH GOERS PREPARE FOR 'CRITICAL SUNDAY'
10/29/04 | Jim Boldebook

Posted on 10/29/2004 6:41:49 AM PDT by JimB in Venice

This Sunday church goers have opportunity to influence Presidential vote on Tuesday.

TOPICS:
KEYWORDS: bush; church; election; god; november2; religiousvote; sunday; tuesday; victory; win
Frequency of church attendance is a key factor in the likelihood of voters to choose President Bush on Sunday. For Catholics, over 55% of those attend church on a regular basis are more likely to vote for the President, or be easily persuaded to vote for the President. For other Christian denominations, the percentage is even higher.

The issues of importance to Christians include abortion (partial birth abortion), parental notification prior to a minor's abortion, taxpayer funding of abortions, gay marriage, faith based charitable funds, and family issues like the $1000 per child tax credit.

If you attend church on a regular basis, you have a great opportunity (and your last opportunity) to influence someone who might be undecided. Its a good time to ask if someone needs a ride to the polls also. If you would like a christian voter guide to pass out, email me: Jim@cbcads.com and I'll be happy to email you a PDF that you can have copied or printed. I am also distributing these at polling places on Tuesday backed with the republican candidates and issues we are recommending to voters. You can do this as long as you stay 50' away from polling place.

Good luck and God Bless.

Good thoughts. Yes, our family attends regularly and although we never ask other families their political choices, prayers are offered weekly for the nation and the candidates.

This is Halloween weekend, time Falling Back, and my great-granddaughter is on the schedule for altar service at the 9:30 am. mass. Busy weekend. Will probably NOT be
watching too many of the Talking Heads on TV. But I do enjoy the British comedies on PBS.

Prayers for a peaceful pre-election weekend!

I think there is now a factor in play that was not in play in 2000: the massive numbers devout Christian voters. We're talking as much as five million votes in favor of Bush now, and that could be an enormous factor in many of the battleground states.

I hope everyone knows about the Christian Coalition Voter guides. These can easily be printed out and distributed at churches over the weekend and are locally based for use in your particular area. Excellent tool

AMEN. What's the weather prediction for Tuesday across the US? Any major storms, say in liberal hotbeds? One can only hope and pray!

Thanks Jim.

I had the pleasure of hearing Dr. Mac Brunson from 1st Dallas on Wednesday night. He challenged a group of pastors and lay people to take the moral message to the pulpits on this Sunday. He said there are four issues that should dominate the discussion of Christians getting out to vote.

STEM CELL RESEARCH.. perhaps this piece may be helpful in discussing Stem Cell Research, which a lot of people are confused about. If you would like a word document emailed to you that you can print out and copy.. email me : Jim@cbcads.com

In the discussion of STEM CELL RESEARCH, have you wondered why people like John Kerry and John Edwards have paraded out folks like Michael Fox, the wife of the late Christopher Reeves and even the son of the late President Reagan onto the stage to defend the practice, rather than scientific experts?

The advocates of Embryonic Stem Cell Research (ESCR) have been preying upon people with debilitating diseases in order to garner support. Those who advocate so called “therapeutic cloning” and ESCR do not want you to understand the truth at all. Misleading terms, fake science and outright lies have been perpetrated on the American public in order to disguise the truth about what these researchers really want to do: methodically produce and kill human beings.

Let’s start with misleading terms: Stem Cell Research involves just a ball of cells…the first distinction that needs to be made is that there are TWO types of “stem cell research.” One, which is properly called Embryonic Stem Cell Research, involves the deliberate destruction of human embryos in order to obtain their stem cells. That “ball of cells” you hear about is extracted during the early stages of the human embryo’s development, which instantly kills this tiny human being. The second, is Adult Stem Cell Research which uses stem cells from a host of ethical sources including the placenta or umbilical cord blood after live birth (yes that is considered an “adult” or “mature” stem cell!) or from your own blood, bone marrow, skin, hair follicles, even fat cells.

How about that “Fake Science?” We use a process called SCNT to grow cells…SCNT or “somatic cell nuclear transfer.” It is a fancy way of saying that scientists are using human cloning in order to create embryos and then extract the stem cells. Scientists are not “growing cells”…they are growing human beings, either by using over-produced embryos from fertility clinics or by using a full human cloning process called SCNT. The very same process used to create Dolly the Sheep. The only difference between growing Dolly and “growing cells” is that scientists will kill the developing baby at whatever stage of growth is desired in order to use his/her stem cells. In New Jerseys latest law, this means allowing the baby to develop right through a full 9 months in order to harvest organs and cells as long as the baby is not allowed to be born.

And what about those “Outright Lies?”
Cures are right around the corner…
To date, there has NOT BEEN ONE SINGLE SUCCESSFUL HUMAN OR ANIMAL treatment using embryos. In fact there have been horrific failures including deaths. However, ADULT stem cells have already been used in thousands of human treatments including heart disease, brain disorders, diabetes, spinal injury, lymphoma, breast cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and a host of autoimmune diseases.

Bush banned the research…
President Bush DID NOT BAN ANY research. He only banned FEDERAL FUNDING for research on new embryos created after August 2001, so that our tax dollars would not be used to destroy human life. In 2003, the government spent 190 million dollars on adult-stem-cell research and another 24.8 million on embryonic stem-cell research under the Bush guidelines.

So if the research is not banned, what does Bush or the Federal Government have to do with it? Because scientists want the government to fund research that is going nowhere, while saving their own funds for more promising projects. Some have abandoned ESCR entirely. For example, biotech giant, Osiris Therapeutics of Baltimore, Maryland is one of about a dozen firms developing successful therapies using adult cells, not cells from embryos. When asked why embryonic stem cell research is being touted to those suffering from debilitating diseases Ronald D.G. McKay, a stem cell researcher at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke stated, “To start with, people need a fairy tale. Maybe that’s unfair, but they need a story line that’s relatively simple to understand.”

Make no mistake: Embryonic Stem Cell Research and Human Cloning is not only drawing resources away from ethical, fruitful research, it is without question, the ultimate disgrace to God as the holy Creator and Author of all human life. And when mankind takes it upon himself to assume this authority, to manipulate, create and destroy human beings in the name of science, most assuredly, we are taking the ultimate step of declaring ourselves a race in need of no God.

This is a timely post. I worked with the class leader/teacher in my Sunday School class and gathered voter guides for distribution in our class this Sunday.

I think this might end up being a good thing. In my class are several "seasoned citizens" who mean well, but may not be paying attention. A case in point is one very nice older gentleman who asks for prayer each week for our troops, and regularly speaks out against abortion, etc., etc. I drove by his house this week and there is a Kerry/Edwards sign in his yard. I was just floored. This is a case where this guy has always voted Dem and that's what he'll always vote, I guess. He's may be surprised when he gets his voter guide this Sunday.

I left my church 8 weeks aga because of the LIBERAL new pastor. I put up with him for 2 years and finally had it. He is a southern democrat that is PRO-Choice.

This morning I was thinking that I can not wait to go to a CONSERVATIVE church on Sunday!

I love my church for the opposite reason. A couple of weeeks ago in the sermon our pastor (originally from Tennessee) talked about the Hate Crime nonsense, and how it Canada it has been used to silence preaching against homosexuality. He then said, "If that happens here in the U.S, y'all will just have to come bail me out of jail, I guess."

He got a standing ovation!

AMEN! I'm thrilled to see there are still pastors out there with a 'holy' boldness. Our church has a Christian Citizen board where we work hard all year to educate our members on the social issues. We now have up a comparison of Bush vs Kerry on abortion and gay marriage. Add to this we have Christian voter guides (both state and federal) everywhere for our members. We are so happy we are in a church were our leadership supports the biblical values and speaks to them too. We have an opportunity to influence many people through good churches where pastors are not afraid to speak truth.

Just remember this: Our country was founded on Christian principles (regardless of who is comfortable with that or not) and our forefathers set out to give us freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion.

God has blessed this nation for hundreds of years. Just look at the rest of the world and then look at America.
The day we turn our back on God, is the day he turns his
back on us.
