I knew we'd see the vest at the gate because they set it up with the capture of Frodo at the tower, and, at the point where Aragorn and the others ride up to the gate, I saw the cut. They rode up, and it cut to Aragorn turning around all teary and saying "For Frodo"... Remember? I knew they had cut the vest.

The heartbreak of that mouth of Sauron dropping Frodo's things at their feet alway hit me like a ton of bricks in the book, to think what it meant to the characters for that moment, even though we knew they were still alive.

Holy Cow! Can't wait to get the EE! Glad to see "the Mouth of Sauron" is in it. Also very very happy to see the Eowyn/Faramir scenes in there too!!

Oh how I'd love it if they'd have a Trilogy Tuesday in my neck of the woods! That would be fantastic! I'd take the day off plus the next day to recover!

Any scouring of the Shire?

I'd like to see Peter Jackson do "The Hobbit".

Any scouring of the Shire?

Nope, it was never scripted or filmed. I think it was seen as one battle too many, too anti-climactic after Pellenor Fields and the Black Gate, would add yet another ending to an already long denouement, and would take too much screen time just to explain who the ruffians are and how they came to power.

It might happen.... Right now lawyers are writing letters about dollars and movie rights.

Oh brother! How much longer could they possibly make it? The original ROTK took an HOUR just for the ending sequence.

I have the 4 DVD sets for the first two movies, but not for this one.

Me too. Once I obtain this extended version, my whole family will be sitting down for a whole day to watch them all in a row on my new Yamaha RX-V902 Dolby Pro-Logic 5.1 Surround system. Hell, we might even start off with the animated version of "The Hobbit".

Well, in that case, I better give Brother Smaug a headsup that he's gonna have company soon.

Actually, I'd much enjoy a movie about my expulsion of those greedy dwarves from Moria. That'd be two talons, err thumbs up!

You know, if they made that into a movie, they'd probably give you a love interest ;~D

Well, that scene will never be the same for me again! ;o) I hadn't noticed a *teary* Aragorn, I'll have to check it out again. (Geez, does that mean I have the watch the movie AGAIN?...OK!) Funny thing is, once the EE's come out, I rarely watch the theatrical versions anymore!

And I hear you about that scene at the gate. The depth of friendship, loyalty and sacrifice in these books still floors me the same way they did 25+ years ago. There always has to be a box of Kleenex nearby for those heartbreaking moments like that one.

All adult Balrogs have wings. We get them at the end of the first ten centuries when we moult.
