For those who have Firefox, check out these awesome themes. I personally like "Phonecity" and "GrayModern". Just pick one and click "install", then navigate to the themes folder under tools to pick your new theme.

Very cool stuff.

I've been using the Little Fox theme. Smaller buttons and icons for more screen room:

Now that you have switched to Firefox for your Browser you should try OpenOffice for your home office. www.openoffice.org

"I love Firefox! "

Me too. It's simply the best at the moment.

How come they don't have thumbnail previews of the themes?

A number of the themes I've tried leave my scroll bar monochrome, with no contrasting colors at all. The new Qute 3, for example. I think I'll stick with the default.

I've used Nautipolis For Firefox 1.0.2 since the 0.8 version. It makes the most efficient use of vertical screen space. I have 2 toolbars and the top one is loaded with Open new tab, new Window, copy, paste, download manager, 15 bookmarks that have their name edited to 2 letters -- all this to the right of File, Edit, View ....

Try Phoencity, GrayModern, or Curaco.

And I second the nomination for Open Office. A great free collection of Microsoft replacements.

Thanks for this. I use Firefox, but didn't know about the new skins.

while I like Firefox, that page is a perfect example of their difficulty with CSS layouts (and funny because of the irony).

however, I will stick with them and see if they get better ...

I just looked at Open Office for Mac OSX. They have it working for Darwin users and Unix savvy users, but native Mac release looks delayed until 2nd Quarter 2006.

I guess I'll stick with the MS Office 98 I have until then. I wish I'd hung onto the Office 95 Suite. That was the last version Microsoft released specifically for Apple, and it was the best software they ever wrote.

I found one called Phoenity Modern and love it. However, the author's link and the link on the homepage are messed up and I could never install it again. Like when upgrading to version 1.0. Anyone experience this as well?

Also, if anyone has any clues on how to install it outside of the usual links, I'd appreciate any tips. I have the original .jar file in a directory called 'chrome'.

no need to go to the author's site...just go straight to the themes and extensions page to get it...or, if you have an older version, you can probably just use the "update" feature in firefox. Click tools, options, advanced...and scroll down to where it says software update. Click "check now" and it will find updates to all of your old themes and extensions.

If you don't have it installed any longer, you can get it here:

use the "update" feature in firefox.

Thanks...but I'm using version 0.8. No update feature. Plus, the link on the themes page is no good as well. The author's site was what I tried after not being able to install it for other profiles via the link on the themes page. It must be bolloxed up somehow. I just need to figure out how to install it via the .jar file I have saved off.
