Prayers for Don, but I doubt he needs them. My Dad is 86. He signed up after that fateful day, 63 years ago. He never saw combat, he just went where they told him to. His health is failing now. I just recently thanked him for his service...... it didn't occur to me before to do that. We are indeed losing some very fine men. God Bless each and every one of them!
DON MILLER STROUD..RIP!
Sounds like a life lived well.

Prayers offered.
America bids farewell to another of its heroes; Heaven gains another guardian. I hope Don passed his stories along. He and his generation are the finest and bravest this country ever produced.
Here's hoping my father (USS Los Angeles before he went USAF) snagged him at the Pearly Gates for a cold one.
You and I may linger here for years, but for them it will just be an eye's blink before we're all reunited again.
He went to all the reunions, Pearl Harbor Survivors, USS New Orleans and USS Laws until about 10 years ago.
erse 1: Eternal Father, strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who bidd'st the mighty ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!
Verse 2: O Christ! Whose voice the waters heard
And hushed their raging at Thy word,
Who walked'st on the foaming deep,
And calm amidst its rage didst sleep;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!
Verse 3: Most Holy Spirit! Who didst brood
Upon the chaos dark and rude,
And bid its angry tumult cease,
And give, for wild confusion, peace;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!
Verse 4: O Trinity of love and power!
Our brethren shield in danger's hour;
From rock and tempest, fire and foe,
Protect them wheresoe'er they go;
Thus evermore shall rise to Thee
Glad hymns of praise from land and sea.
God love these old proud men - we are so blessed to have known them.
May your family find comfort in his legacy of love and goodness...
We will always be grateful for heroes like this who fight to protect our freedom.
