Post this on the Michigan board. They'd know for sure. Of course most universities are liberal. It all comes down to the severity.

I would probably say that they lean liberal, considering that U of Michigan is about as loonie left as they get, and they're in the same state system. More than likely most of the students are conservative (or in my findings at schools i've attended, like most just dont give a rip one way or another), most of the general staff of the university would be conservative, but the professors and administration would be leftists/liberals.

I think that
Hillsdale College and
Michigan Technological University are the only conservative leaning colleges in Michigan. And MTU is only conservative because of the students that want to go into engineering.
While Michigan State University was liberal when my parents were students there in the '50's.

There is one guy who walks around with anti-Israel t shirts, that is about the nuttiest thing I've seen on campus from professors. There are classes like IAH 201 that are just pathetic, but a lot of classes are good. I have an Econ degree from MSU and never realy encountered a whole lot of liberalism, overt liberalism. The harder subjects are apolitical but the soft subjects are just as liberal as any university.
The school paper is incredibly leftist, but big surpirse.

Yes. There are a small few. There's one big one that I can't think of off the top of my head right now. Google it and see what comes up.

Having graduated from both.
My opinion.
U of Michigan is a hornets nest of liberal teachers (not professors)who have not held a real job (meet payroll)
Michigan State University is more conservative, however, as an earlier poster said, its a matter of degree. The liberal arts program and under first two years of undergraduate and the teacher program suffer greatly from liberal brain cramp sickness.
