Mystery of commode by the road thickens
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review ^ | Wednesday, February 23, 2005 | Eric Heyl

As the months passed and no one arrived to claim the roadside attraction, Dawn Michaels became increasingly curious.

Surely, the portable toilet belonged to someone.

But after nearly eight months, Michaels recently suspected that no one was going to return to Rochester Road in Ross to retrieve the Porta-Pottie. It had been cast aside, cruelly abandoned, forced to endure the harsh winter elements on its own.

If we were talking about a dog or cat instead of a human waste receptacle, this story would be positively heartbreaking.

Suspecting that public money was being wasted, Michaels, 60, of Ross, began investigating. She started with Jerry Pidhirny, owner of the Barnhart Roofing Co., located near the increasingly permanent potty.

Well if your tax dollars are being used to maintain it, I'd say go ahead and use it. No sense letting it just sit there idle. Then it really WOULD be a waste of taxpayers money.

must be a slow news day in pittsburgh. "GOVERNMENT WASTE!! PORTA-POTTY COST RUNS ON AND ON", screamed the headline.

If Pittsburgh teens are anything like those I grew up around, this thing should be on its side tomorrow or halfway to the nearest church parking lot.

said Debbie Stankus, assistant manager at Royal Flush.

Why on Earth would ANY woman with a last name like that get a job doing anything in sanitation.

Can you imagine the torture she took in School? "Alright, who farted, Oh No, Debbie Stank Us!"

Potty humor has been around a loooooong time.
It's extremely difficult to come up with something new and unique.
I apologize for not getting your joke, it seemed so realistic, I simply assumed that you were series.

Royal Flush has faithfully maintained Rochester Road's lonely loo (a model which typically rents for $84 a month, although bulk discounts are available)...

Uh, "bulk discounts" Gracie?
