This was just SWEET!!!
Email ^ | 3/10/05 | Calpernia

Posted on 03/11/2005 3:49:15 PM PST by Calpernia

This was an email forward.

I took the names out for privacy. I had to post, too sweet!

Copy and edited:

A lady found the fawn under her step (they think the doe might have been hit by a car)... her Ridge Back dog is helping look after it. The family named the fawn Bella. Once she has regained her strength (she was not in good shape when the family found her) they are going to send her to some friends who (in the past) raised two orphan deer and released them to the wild. Right now she is being bottle fed. Their dog (Hogan) has basically taken over. The fawn even shares his bed.

It is very sweet, however, this kind of imprinting is going to make for a deer that will have all the wrong instincts to survive in the wild...

Petting zoo or wildlife park, I bet.

Sweet Labrador, and that first pic of the fawn hiding on the step breaks my heart.

Ping!

Ok, now we are going to Dan Rather and analyze? I just got the email today from Oklahoma. I lent no thought to the season.

Maybe it was last year and she just got the pics online? I don't know.

But damn those are cute pics. Enjoy! Relax. Save the analysis for real stuff.

Gestation for whitetail deer is approximately 6 and a half months....the rut was in November. Possibly some older does got bred earlier...maybe middle/late Oct. That still would place those does giving birth in mid-April.

I'd guess you saw a late '04 summer fawn.....Unless everything's gone wacky this year....

I do know that it seems the bucks are holding their antlers longer this year. Leastway's around here they are........
