Need Some Help with Kitty Discipline

I am wondering if some of the more animal-knowledgeable folks on FR know of ways to discipline cats. My normally very loving kitty has murdered my fish. And I think she ate him as well...I haven't found a body.
My cat is my first real pet, so I don't know if there's a way to train cats so they know not to do something. I already threw a handful of water in her face as soon as I found the crime scene. Any helpful information would be very appreciated.

Get a squirt bottle. Every time your kitty murders something you didn't want it to, say "NO!!!" in a loud, firm voice and squirt the kitty in the face (on the mist setting is fine).

A cat's gotta do what a cat's gotta do. Perhaps a screen over the fish bowl?

Also, take away your kitty's assault rifle.

I already threw a handful of water in her faceNot good, as cats, and unlike dogs work in real-time and don't respond to discipline. But they always understand LOVE.

Your cat was just being a cat, AQ.
Buy a new fish and re-locate the bowl or aquarium.

Don't know what to tell you that would be of help, but maybe you could put a screen over the fish bowl and gradually introduce your cat to the fish.
I know it sounds stupid ,but we did it with our cat when my daughter got a pet rat.Every day my daughter would take her rat out of the cage and would let the cat sniff it.
Both critters are fine.
Our cat never harmed our Beta either. He would drink the water out of the bowl and the Beta would swim right up to him.
He just knew he couldn't harm anything in the house I guess.

I just expectorated on my laptop.
(And no, that does *not* sound perverted!)

Stop adding tartar sauce to the fish bowl, for starters.

Not good, as cats, and unlike dogs work in real-time and don't respond to discipline. But they always understand LOVE. I favor the Frank J. method myself, but its effectiveness is limited by the availability of a serviceable bog.

I think I'm going to do that with my next fish. It was just a little strange, since she hadn't seemed to mind the fish before.
