We have only had the horses get out 3 times, and thankfully they always stay on our property and look for where we hide the feed! They are pretty easy to get back in, apart from Lightning who LOVES the game! He will run right at me and veer at the last moment, not good for confidence building I can tell you, but after a couple of times scaring me, he's bored and ready to go find feed!
We are off on our exciting trip to the landfil again! So I'll catch up with you later.
Gonna grab a coke on the way out and I just KNOW I will have the image of horse slobber when I take a sip.......Urgh!

I've noticed it depends on the horse if when they get the chance they leave the property. My mare could be loose all day or night and she stayed right around the house. Rusty would stay then wonder down the drive, but never went far.

The 3 times Rocky has gotten out since we had him he's always went up the road in the same direction, stopping by the houses along the way that have horses, but was always easy to catch when I caught up with him. The worry about him is he is a stud, and I worried he'd find a mare in season and try breeding over a fence.

ONe of the times it was at night. He stopped at a house that had floor to ceiling livingroom windows. A lady was sleeping on a couch there. She woke up to see Rocky standing outside the windows. He was seeing his reflection, and talking and striking out with a front foot to that horse in the window. WE were lucky he didn't break thru But he let her catch him easy.
