How Smug We Arrogant Humans Have Become (Terri's Life)

Posted on 03/28/2005 9:39:08 PM PST by 7thOF7th

With all of our technology and all of the knowledge we humans have accumulated over the passages of time, it seems that the more we think we know, the further from God we all become. Take the Terri Schiavo case, we see medical professionals espousing to their interpretation of life as measured by all of the latest technologies man can create. It amazes me that such a complex and mysterious gift called life can be supplanted for a legal definition based on an observed or perceived condition observed by a human. This hardly qualifies as divine. Some will say an autopsy will show that Terri's brain was damaged beyond repair. Does this mean she is not alive? Does this mean she can't perceive her own existence? I think not! I challenge any doctor to show proof that Terri has no awareness of her being. They can not! All they can do is invent some terminology like "persistent vegetative state" which is supposed to justify the arrogance of killing one of Gods children. We humans should take note that God is greater than all of us and none of us should make "God like" decisions, not doctors, not lawyers, not judges, Governors, or Presidents, not even husbands! May God bless Terri and the family that loves her and may the rest of the charlatans burn in hell.

Our laws don’t allow for forgiveness, the act of somebody having a change of heart, or somebody simply changing their mind. Suppose for example I was walking across a bridge and I told somebody that I was going to jump, does this give somebody the right to push me off, when I get to the edge and change my mind? NO!

The whole issue that "this is what Terri wanted" that has been legally cast in stone is amazingly stupid, first off, nobody knows what she would have wanted, and even if she had said it, she is only human and has the right to change her mind.

The law and media keep saying the lesson learned here is that we all need a living will, (which really should be called a dying will), but even with the best legal attention, such a document does not allow for a change of heart of ones persistence to live and carry out whatever god has in our plan. A much better alternative is the power of attorney, allowing somebody who truly loves us, somebody who can take into account our feelings in real time, to take charge and speak for us in our end days.

To say that we as an individual or collectivity as a government have the right to end life is a very selfish act, for our body’s do not belong to us, but to God, therefore I believe we should make every effort to fulfill the duties of life while here on earth.

I speak from being a widow with a spouse who died from a terminal illness, naturally over an extended two-year period. There were times when my spouse wanted to end it all but the drive also existed to live simultaneously from day to day, hour to hour. Death is fight between the two for anybody. But God had plans for my spouse, and as it tuned out staying alive an extra two years allowed our infant daughter to have some memory of her lost parent, and to develop some sense of security of knowing she had both a man and a dad.

We as humans often don’t know why suffering occurs or how it fits into God’s overall plan therefore laws made by mortal men with the intention to stop suffering without recognizing forgiveness, changes of heart, or that love and those who love life should be held to a higher esteem, the result of these man made ill-conceived laws will fall always fall short of what is truly right as in Terri’s case, but thorough suffering like in Jesus’ case the martyr will prevail therefore Gods love can overcome in the end so keep the faith....

The more god-like we become, the less we see our need for the Creator.

Picture the 16th-Century Puritan, at his hallelujahs in the field, driving his oxen. Now the Puritan has become an object of scorn. We're so much better, so much more sophisticated. Religion is for simpletons.

What do you mean, "we?" You can only speak for yourself.

I think NOT sir! These are observations I am intelligent enough to make. If they are not obvious to you, I can't help that nor do I have the desire. "We" is a reference to we children of God.

Not all of 'We children of God' are arrogant, some are truly humble.
