If I remember correctly, Lanny told Michael Medved once that he would have jumped at the chance to represent HITLER....and Lanny's Jewish....but, it tells a lot more about him, what he would do as a Lawyer....

" Lanny Davis, who stoutly defended Mr. Clinton on every talk show that would book him, is representing another oil-for-food figure, Robert Parton. Mr. Parton, whom congressional investigators are keen to interview, recently quit the U.N.-appointed investigation of the oil-for-food fiasco, reportedly because the panel had gone too easy on Mr. Annan. A good observation on your part. Welcome. I'm just going to give you a quick examination. Nothing to worry about. Please seat yourself in the chair. JimRob likes all our teeth to be in the best of condition.....

Do you like the sound of drills? I do. Very much so.
Looks like you're kept your dental hygiene up to snuff.

Welcome again. I'll send you a bill next week.

The UN SecGen is, I believe, a 10 year posistion, and Kofi's time is almost done.

Now I wouldn't be suprised if ol' BJ C is posistioning himself somehow to get in. There might be rules about who is eligible to be UNSecGen, but rules are meant to be broken. And laws can always be changed. Heck, virtually all of FDR's New Deal programs were ALL considered unconstitutional when they were first promoted. But hey, if you push things hard enough or often enough, you can get anything changed.

My view is Bill will be made king of the world, by selling and promising as much of the US to the UN as he can. In return the UN and all the countries in it, will flood the next US election with as much money as possible, to get Hillary elected.

Imagine, Bill UNSecGen and Hillary POTUS. If this becomes a reality the United States will just be a suburb of Cuba.

Just FYI. Newbies get flamed when they post something controversial, and then disappear. Your post is not controversial, and you are participating actively. Welcome to Free Republic!

Very, very scary. I was thinking that this might be the perfect time for him. To help push Kofi out, therefore, he'll be in the shadows to swoop in and "save" the U.N. from the terrible scandal. Just enough time to be "an interim UNSecGen helper" or whatever they would call it before June 2006. He could win lots of friends. After that, rules can always be bent or broken if you're a Clinton, right? My skin is crawling at the thought.

When Clintons 2nd term was drawing to an end, he went to Africa and other places, and was treated like a rock star. Or at least thats what the media showed. Whether it was accurate we'll never know. But what was there not to love, if you live in a second rate country, and the most powerful country just wants to be one of the boys, and give away all its power and authority. What that means is everybody likes you. But it also means nobody RESPECTS you.

Look what like gets you in the middle east. NO RESPECT.

Look at the EU. They liked us when Billy was POTUS, but they didn't respect us. Oil for food is evidence of that. And when we went into Iraq, the countries that refused us, were the same countries involved with oil for food. Again no respect for us.

Those same countries RESPECT us now. They may not like us. But they definetly respect us.

Bill Clinton is all about liking him. The problem is, NOBODY RESPECTS HIM. Even his own party. He's a laughing stock to everybody.

Think about the libs. Its all about like. Do you like my clothes? Do you like my hair? Do you like my money? Am I pretty enough? Tell me I am! Isn't my music wonderful? Aren't my movies great? We have tv shows like the Insider, Celebrity Justice, and channels like E! All about celebrity and like. Nothing but fluff and superficiality.

But when it comes down to it, does anybody RESPECT them? Does anybody respect Paris Hilton? Does anybody respect Jennifer Lopez. George Clooney? Brad Pitt? John Kerry? Madonna? Sean Penn?

Now look at GWB. People respect him, they have to, if their lives are guided by principal. Of course the left doesn't respect anybody, so they don't respect him. So the best way to judge their decision is, do they like him? Since they don't like him means he must be respectable. (OK, its twisted logic, but it works for me).

The world loves (likes) all the things the US gives them. But its because of those things that they don't respect us.

Very good first post. Welcome to FR.

Keep in mind, Parton bought Davis' services. The speculation need be on his frame of mind. Since there's little to go on, it's quite possible Parton is willing to give a Clinton ally power as gatekeeper, both in court and in the media, in return for the Clinton faction's support to keep as many Democrats as possible from causing problems in the Congress.

By going just for the figureheads, Parton can resolve his issues with the Volcker committee, and Davis can protect those with more insidious dealings with the actual corruption, SELECTIVELY. There is no chance all the corrupt parties will be brought to justice, but, having Republicans publicly, and Democrats, through backroom channels with Davis, select mutually acceptable fall guys, the good times for everyone on the hill will continue to roll.

Both sides of the aisle would rather keep the UN, whether viewed as a friend, enemy, or nuisance, as close as possible, so they , or we, as Americans as a whole, can continue to use it to our ends.

The financial corruption at the UN doesn't personally affect politicians, unless the voter based gets all riled up about it. Davis can bridge this current situation for both parties.

Thank you, JerseyHighlander, for the response and welcome. Your explanation makes a lot of sense to me. I guess I am part of the voter base that is riled up.

With Clinton's history, I have become extremely wary of anything he has a hand in. I believe we won't truly know the extent of the damage he's done for many years to come. I was looking at the UN scandal with the idea that Lanny will be one of the only ones involved who will know Parton's every move. Clinton, therefore, has an inside track. Am I giving Clinton too much credit?

I understand that all the corrupt parties will never be brought to justice. What scares me is that Volker was begging us to drop this because lives are at stake. I am not naïve about the power at play here, but how has the UN gotten to the point of such awful dealings that there are actually lives at stake? When I read Volker's statement, I just kept asking the simple question to myself - "WHY are LIVES at stake?" Knowing the answer, but not hearing the question upsets me. Have we become so desensitized to the dangers of power and greed that people's lives are just part of the game now?

Again, thanks for your reply. I was looking for an answer and knew Free Republic would be the only place I could get a lot of good ones!

......My suspicion is that he's there to keep the trail away from his former boss.......

I actually looked before posting.......

Similarly to your thought , the fact he is involved, and there is no eivdence so far in the thread that he really is, indicates there is something the Clintoons need covered up. His apprarance means there is damage in need of control.
