Hayden Christensen is set to quit acting to become an architect. The Star Wars actor says he plans to swap the big screen for building design - because the movie industry doesn't excite him anymore.
He told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Maybe the new Star Wars will be my last movie. "I don't find Hollywood interesting, so I'm thinking about studying architecture instead."
The heartthrob actor, who plays Anakin Skywalker in the hit movie series, claims that he's had enough of making movies because the industry demands too much from its stars.
The 24-year-old actor, who has been romantically linked with his Star Wars co-star Natalie Portman, also slammed other young actors who are prepared to sell themselves to Hollywood in order to make their career successful.
He added: "A film is a product and as an actor you can only sell it if you sell yourself. "You don't get to sit at the table before you're ready to give away your integrity. Maybe it works for Orlando Bloom. It doesn't for me."
Earlier this month the Canadian-born star revealed how he had to bulk up for his role as Darth Vader in third Star Wars instalment, Revenge of the Sith.
The handsome actor has played the young villain in the past two films - but admitted he wasn't big enough to fill the famous black suit after he transforms into the adult character for the final film.
He said: "Yeah, I'm a bit shorter but they were nice enough to put lifts in the shoes and make a big muscle suit so I could fill it out." - Bang
Meee-ow.
(Word is young Hayden's already signed for the POSEIDON ADVENTURE remake).
Orlando Bloom has made himself into the new young action hero by doing his own action and without taking trashy roles... I say good for him.
Maybe he'll change his name to Art Van De Lay!
Orlando has to be the most feminine action hero ever.
I'll admit he's a pretty boy, but I don't see him as feminine. He's not gay, he's just not a bristly cowboy. I like him. Loved him as Legolas.
Young teens like Orlando.
Orlando is a handsome guy, a decent if not good actor, does his own stunts (most of the time), but is very metro-sexual and rather feminine.
Thanks, I didn't mean to imply that he was gay just not real manly looking. I don't think anyone will ever confuse him for Bruce Willis.
I don't remember Orlando joining the rest of the Hollywood chorus bashing Bush. I might be wrong, but if I'm not, I'll give him credit for keeping his mouth shut about politics, and for doing his own stuntwork.
Orlando is pretty. Not too many pretty men. Handsome, cute, rugged yea, but not too many pretty.
Bloom's not gay but he is a bishounen (pretty-boy). Hollywood needs more masculine-looking actors. Like some of the LotR costars...
Right on that. Although I'm not up to date on the latest film stars, the men are all so effeminate-looking, whether or not they're actually gay.
What happened to the virile or intense stars of yesteryear?
Let me mark "bishounen" off the list of "Words that I Never Thought I'd See on FR."
(If I see "Yaoi" pop up though, I'm heading for the door.)
Death to bishies!
I haven't seen III yet, but his acting in II was quite poor..
Spoken like a young idealist.
Where else can he make millions to play make believe?
Never blame (if one thinks blame is justified) an actor for their performance in a movie written and directed by George Lucas. The man has his strengths as a filmmaker, but handling actors isn't one of them. Though I think much of the criticism of the acting in these new SW movies is unfair and wrong, I must admit that it could have been better after seeing these same actors do so well in other movies. I don't know how Lucas does it, but he often takes very talented actors and makes them look mediocre.
