*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

If it doesn't work for us nothing lost while we continue to search. It's a better place for the horses in the mean time. My BIL has been kind of down and is so excited about the horses coming. I hope he's happy about us coming too. I talked with him a long time tonight.
It was just 45 dollars but if I hadn't have been charged I might have changed my mind and left them here awhile longer. Principles, you know?

I had this post already, and it just disappeared....

Anyway, here are Kristy and Rowdy today. Not as exciting as Hair's pictures, but hey:) it's a horse.

Sounds to me that this could be a good thing for not just you, Eddie and the horses, but for your brother too : )

Ah! A horse ~and~ a dog~

Pretty shepherd... he must be Kristy's?

Is she really little or is Rowdy enormous? or both? Even her saddle looks little on him. :~D

The shepherd is Kristy's. Charlie bought her for Kristy while they were still dating. I got to keep her a few weeks before he gave her to her. Coco.

Kristy is a tiny thing, and Rowdy is a pretty good size horse. Kristy's wedding dress was an "ought" and had to be altered down. We don't like her:)

Bay is worth a million, I'd say don't ever get rid of him but I know that would be redundant. :)

Her saddle actually weighs more then mine. It is a combo, roping barrel saddle. She was learning to rope on Charlie's old roping horse. She was just getting the hang of it when he had to be put down. She can't rope off Rowdy. Charlie ropes from him, but Rowdy is afraid to face cows:), and Charlie is afraid Kristy could get hurt because, Rowdy gets rather squirrely when he has to face off. She's got him running barrels like a pro tho. She would have been taking him to the local jackpots, except for her leg. She'll be able to go when we get back from TX.

Yes, he is. He doesn't have a white hair on him.

My son bought this horse when he was 3. He is the same age as Belle. But Charlie didn't do much with him, he was courting at the time:), and didn't have the patience to train one at the time. He was standing around being wasted. Kristy had bought this really crazy horse, it was her first. I went and watched her run barrells one time with Charlie and her horse went over the railing, high centered. I told Charlie, if you really care about this girl you need to tell her to get rid of that horse.

Well she got rid of it. Mack was talking about selling Rowdy, since no one was using him, Charlie had traded Mack Rowdy for a horse Mack had bought that turned out to be and excellent roping horse. I knew Rowdy was a good horse, he just needed to be worked with. Kristy was dying to find another horse, so I told her to come over and start riding him. She did so good, and they loved each other so much, Mack just gave him to her for a wedding present. Once she got him going good, Charlie started roping on him and he is just great at doing both.

Is 72 dollars too much for a complete vaccine in Texas? No vet visit. Just me buying the syringe. It sounded outrageous to me but I don't want to drive all the way to TSC for a few dollars.
