The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread SIX

*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

It does happen on other threads too, I see it in the latest posts, you can see them, post 14 of 13, etc... and if you click them, only 13 appear.

I do wonder if it happens more in the chat forum than in news.

I'll go ahead and start a new thread anyway, it's about time.

I was wondering yesterday if a new thread would help. For awhile it looked like the smaller threads weren't having trouble. But then I did notice it a little bit.

YES! Everything is in the car, except the fishing rods, box and the kids! LOL The electric cooler is in there, so that I can allow for it, but we'll get it back out before we go, fill it with cokes, juice and beers for when we get there! : ) I usually cook and freeze loads of meals to take with us, but things have been so hectic here, i havent had the time. We will do a grocery shop when we get there, as i like to cook at home and take picnics. : )
Too much temptation to go through lots of drivebys for take- out otherwise and then I'll feel like cr*p. Kids love them though! : D

Are you ready to go too?

Lightning is at the vet now being CUT! No more babies from him! Mark is very pleased with him and has been out on the trails with him and not had a bit of bother, however when he is near the mares...........um he acts up a little! : )
He reared up with Mark on him and Mark toppled off, he's ok though. Lightning just stood there afterwards and when Mark took him away from the mares, he was no trouble........nuzzled his shoulder etc like he really loved him. : ) Mark got back on and off through the trails he went, not a trouble at all!
Misty and the colts are living in a 50 acre field and loving it! : )

Yes and no. I have some work to finish at my job. I need to inventory tonight and check my stock too. If even a hint a storm headed here everything sells out. I'm gonna go Walmart shopping tonight. I have to check things out at the ranch and make plans for the horses if it turns towards Houston too. Other than all that, I'm ready!:')

I hate hotels!
We have booked two differnt vacation homes, the first one is a cabin on 280 acres in north AR, with 16 other cabins, lots of trails, lake. the second is on private 200 acres, in eastern MO, with its own fishing pond and trails. Very private which i lOVE. Both are approx $100 a night and there will be 6 of us as Emma gets to bring her best friend. Thankfully our van Toyota Sienna has a very large, deep storage well in the back that makes it great for loading for vacations. I hate to have all the stuff in the van with me, I like it out of sight! : )

I could camp if it was just James and me, but we will have 4 kids with us, and no way am i camping with 4 kids! LOL
To camp we would need to go buy all the stuff, then rent a site, it would work out almost as much as booking the cabins! I would miss air conditioning too!
We have thought about a camper, 5th wheel or something, but when I see them on the sites, all lined up one next to the other...........the thought of spending my vacation like that makes me shudder. I like my own space. : )

Oh, I'm here, sort of:)...still droning out playing this stupid card game, and checking the thread once in a while. Too hot to be out this time of day. Mack is home from work and snoozing on the couch, so I'm trying to keep quiet.
