HONG Kongers usually rank near-bottom of the international list of lovers and a social worker may have discovered why: they don't know what to do between the sheets.
Grace Wong of the southern Chinese territory's Family Planning Association said the number of inquiries at her agency rocketed 50 percent last year, with many clients claiming to have no idea how to have sex. "Some married couples are not familiar with their body parts," Wong was quoted as telling the Sunday Morning Post. "They don't know where their sex organs are.
"They don't know the physical changes associated with sexual response, like males getting an erection," she added.
Regular international surveys by condom manufacturers have found the city is less than amorous. Durex's last poll found Hong Kongers get it together 79 times a year, while the French manage it the most, at 137 times.
Another poll even suggested Hong Kong men prefer to go to work rather than have sex.
The frenetic work ethic in the former British colony is usually blamed for interfering with the course of nature.
But the paper said sociologists believe Chinese sensibilities, which deem discussion of sex even in school as taboo, are responsible.
If this is all true, how is China such a populous country? Somebody/somewhere in China must not have these problems.
Is this from The Onion?
:-D
Yes, the population density of Hong Kong seems to indicate otherwise!
Maybe what has been described is the social-engineering aspect of China's population control policy...i.e., changing behaviors so sex and pregnancy are less likely to occur.
Ping..........for your thoughts on this
Oh brother! :)
Imagine like my sister does, working all the way from 9:30 am right up to 9 pm Mondays to Fridays, and then "normally" 9:30 am to 1:30 pm on Saturdays, but in practice more often than not 9:30 am to 8 pm Saturdays and 2 pm to 8:30 pm Sundays.
This is Hong Kong Chinese working hours. No wonder there is little time for everything else after work - you just try to fill in your stomach and figure out hours to sleep.
If your sister's working hours are typical then I can understand why there is little time for anything else.
Are the very long working hours cultural or out of necessity (ie low wages/high costs)?
Has it always been this way for the HK Chinese or has this situation developed/worsened since 1997?
9 to 5 plus half a day on Saturdays is pretty much confined to civil servants now. I have a friend working for client side in electrical engineering and he normally gets off at 8 pm. He told me on paper the normal hours are 9 to 5 and the other hours are "overtime (OT)" but in practice everyone works overtime without any extra pay.
I heard the major reason is due to the threat of being laid off as Hong Kong's economy has been weak since 1997 Asian financial problems. If you can't guarantee you will still have the job by tomorrow evening, you will be desperate enough to do anything just to survive.
...now look how many.
