Bob Dylan, originally Robert Zimmerman (I'm a philosopher, no I'm a singer / I'm a Christian, no I'm not a Christian) has spent most of his life blowin' in the wind. I wouldn't waste my time going into the House of Burnt Coffee to buy anything with Dylan's name on it.
You may be surprised to learn that Dylan is more conservative then one might think (based on his image) and that he has values very similar to those of us here at FR.
You'll have to forgive me, but anyone in 2005 demonstrating the depth of their knowledge of Dylan by pointing out his birth name has the kind of knowledge that is a mile wide but only an inch deep.
I used to care but things have changed.
the House of Burnt Coffee>>>>>>
What a great song title that would be! Where is Ray Stevens?
In my humble opinion people who drink Starbucks have defective taste buds, or maybe they so want to be in the IN crowd that they would drink green swamp water if it was declared to be the IN drink?
Dylan's political, religious and other attitudes have in many ways been remarkably consistent. Also consistent has been the distorted spin that the mainstream media have put on his life and work. Assigning Dylan's work to the cultural left has been one of the Big Lies of American liberalism. They have tried hard to co-opt possibly the greatest ever American songwriter to their world view, despite his constant rejection of their labels and their seductions. It's a big subject, one I write a little about here:
