Moby Has Newfound Respect for Eminem

HONG KONG (AP) -- Moby says he has newfound respect for Eminem - who once mocked him in a song - because the rapper criticized President Bush and the war in Iraq on his last album.

"I found myself respecting him for doing that," Moby told reporters during a promotional stop in Hong Kong for his latest album "Hotel."

Moby and Eminem have a long-standing feud. Moby has criticized Eminem's lyrics as misogynistic. Eminem lashed out at Moby and electronic music in "Without Me" and spoofed him in the song's video. He also called Moby a girl at the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards.

"Honestly, if he retired, I think the world of music would be a poorer place. He's a really fascinating public figure," Moby said.

Eminem bashed Bush and Iraq policy in his song "Mosh," which said, "Let the president answer on higher anarchy / Strap him with an AK-47, let him go fight his own war."

Moby said he still has qualms about some of Eminem's lyrics but praised him as talented, saying, "I'd much rather have public figure musicians like Eminem because at least he's exciting."

Yes, because criticizing the President is SO rock n roll, radical and uncommon.

Isn't it sweet that all people, rich, or richer, white and whiter, liberal and liberal-er, untalented and completely sucky, can unite in their hatred for Bush?

Can you tell most of this guy's audience is on drugs?

Wow if Moby and Eminem joined up and made an Album together it could possibly be the worst thing ever recorded in human history.

Got beaten up a few years ago in Boston. Probably had a tough time fighting back--I think he's
about 105 pounds soaking wet. Probably a veggie.

I think he's distantly related to Herman Melville,
hence the name. Moby...Dick.

---
Moby is bruised and "very curious" after getting jumped Wednesday night outside a Boston club.

After performing at the Paradise Club, the electronic music guru was signing autographs for fans when two or three men attacked him with mace and repeatedly punched him.

"I assumed that a bar fight had spilled out of the bar and that somehow I had gotten caught in the middle of it," Moby wrote on his Web site. "But no. After being punched in the head from behind a few times, I turned around to see what was going on and one of them punched me in the face a couple of times and then they all ran away. So now I'm sitting here bloody and beaten up and waiting to file a police report."

A spokesperson for the Boston Police Department said officers were called to the scene, where they interviewed the owner of the club and doorman, who was also sprayed with mace when he tried to stop the fight. Police later interviewed Moby at his hotel, where he said his glasses broke during the fight, rendering him unable to describe the attackers.

Moby's real name is "Richard Melville Hall,"

So he could take his nickname and real first name and be
Moby Dick!

>> and if you trace the family lineage back to the mid-19th century, you'll run across Herman Melville, the guy who wrote the famous novel, Moby Dick, in 1851. You know the story of the guy and the white whale? The author of that book is Moby's great, great, granduncle. That's why his parents nicknamed their little Richard "Moby".

The "worst thing ever" is the fact, an album like that would sell.

You are correct that record would sell like hotcakes. I am in the correct demographic for this music and yet I can't even tolerate listening to it.
