Ok so 3pm our time.

I'm surprised they announced the Jr/Jr back together again tour next year since Jr was worried about how his current team would take that news. Just not a good ideal for morale.

Napa wants an unobtainable driver??? hmmmmm shall we opine on that statement?

It was Eury that said it, and that the only opposition was from upstairs at DEI. Dale still wants in The Chase, and he's right about not wanting to announce it now.

As for the driver that NAPA wants in the #15 for them to stay, you can bet it's not either Kenseth or Sterling Marlin (who still isn't saying where he's going to be next year, but it looks like either the #07 or #43).

The "unobtainable driver" could, however, be FastKasey; Jayski is saying that the Evernham announcement (not made yet, but expected sometime today) is that he'll be with Evernham through 2010.

The Nawthun Burton just said KK had the fastest car here. (I would say besides SlowCasey for qualifying anyway)

I just don't have the confidence in KK to even pick him for an "A" driver yet.

I wonder if Napa wanted one of the Hendrick drivers? Or, did they pick an unobtainable one knowing full well they couldn't get him so they could go with Mikey?

I'm going to guess DEI goes after SlowCasey and say farewell, adios and adieu to Napa. Jimmy Elledge rides back in Jr's jet with them after the races. Yes they are related but most of DEI is family anyway so what's wrong with one more in the mix?

Napa will eventually be sorry they left DEI, if they do.

Found the reference to the change to impound rules (thanks ESPN) - that just added 5 to my caution-pool pick.

"Napa will eventually be sorry they left DEI, if they do."

I really agree with you on that.

BTW, what year is Toyota scheduled to start racing and in what? I haven't followed that at all.

Doesn't exactly surprise me; the 9 car has always been quick at Indy. FastKasey's just going through the sophomore slump; he'll be good to pick next year :-)

I wonder if Napa wanted one of the Hendrick drivers? Or, did they pick an unobtainable one knowing full well they couldn't get him so they could go with Mikey?

Gordon and Johnson are locked in long-term with their sponsors, and Vickers and Busch are not exactly telegenic-enough to meet NAPA's strategy. The reason I suggested FastKasey was that he has actual high-Q ratings, not merely potential (Seriesly, how many drivers do you see in commercials? There's Kenny Wallace, DJ, Mikey, Jr, and a hint of KK, Happy, and Flash, and really that's it for out-of-the-car driver commercials.)

Toyota's been playing it REAL close to the vest, giving out a heap of contradictory info and not publicizing the fact that they submitted the paperwork to certify the Camry for Busch/Cup use in time for a 2006 debut. It's been widely reported that the Camry will be tested at Atlanta Motor Speedway (with a trip to the Lockheed wind tunnel afterward) sometime next week, but they're busy denying that as well.

Ok so we're looking for a telegenic youngish unobtainable guy who can schmooze auto parts commercials.
Rocketman? Tony? Harvick?

Btw did anyone see the end of the truck race last night? Apparently Hornaday and Spencer had an ontrack 'event' and a lot of words afterwards. Jimmy was actually trying to run away from Hornaday.

It was one of those "racing" things with Hornaday pinning Spencer to the wall. The last restart.

Smoke would be a good speculation, though I dunno if they want the controversy that surrounds him or Happpy. Rocket is just too boring off-the-track. You could throw FastKasey's teammate into the mix :-)

Thanks, I wonder why Hornaday was mad as a wet hen then?

Spencer has really changed, he was really trying to avoid the whole situation. (at least it appeared that way from what they showed)

I think Jeremy is on the downhill side of the momentum peak so to speak. I'm checking all the fan sites currently to see what they are saying. No one really has a clue yet.

Many are rather annoyed that Tony Jr opened his trap about going back to CC the 8.

Rocket, boring? lol

Maybe he can go take classes like Rubberhead. DEI should have nabbed the shrub.

Busch practice is over, I think Menard came out on top. Looking forward to seeing the Auto Zone #23 with Kenny Wallace!!

Crew chiefs blame aerodynamics for 'boring' races

INDIANAPOLIS
The refrain is the same in many NASCAR trailers here this weekend: The racing action on the stock-car tour stinks, unless you like to watch one driver dominate.

And Sunday's Allstate 400 at the Brickyard is expected to be another follow-the-leader race, dominated by one or two drivers, with the winner determined not by passing on the track but by work - and perhaps gambles, perhaps just luck - in the pits.

"Nobody can pass here - but nobody can pass anywhere," said crew chief Michael "Fatback" McSwain. "Unfortunately, if you don't come out first, second or third on the last pit stop, I don't think you'll have a chance to win here."

Only three drivers can really say they've had good seasons so far: Tony Stewart, Jimmie Johnson and Greg Biffle. For the rest, things have been topsy-turvy - or worse. To judge by the Pocono race, Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s win at Chicago wasn't a turning point in a rather dismal season. And for Jeff Gordon, there's no place to go but up.

NASCAR's new aerodynamic rules - taking away downforce and requiring Goodyear to bring softer tires -hasn't made the racing any better...

Spencer pinched him down going into the turn, a typical move, then Hornaday either got lose and pushed up, or IMO, intentionally ran him into the wall.

Have no clue as to why Hornaday should be irritated, he fared a lot better than Spencer did in the exchange.

Can you tell I like Jimmy Spencer?

I do too. I think I've mentioned it recently, but since he's been on Nascar This Morning and sometimes INC he's been a changed man!

That night in jail probably had a little influence on him.

Although you see over and over people going to jail with it having no affect on their behavior whatsoever.

So, maybe a combination of both is the answer. :)
