Barbarella has been named the sexiest sci-fi character of all time.
The inter-galactic babe, played by Jane Fonda in the 1968 film, topped the poll by influential movie magazine 'Film Review' because of her sexy opening scenes.
The magazine said: "Getting dressed in zero gravity has never looked as good as in the opening sequence of this classic sci-fi film."
Fitness guru Jane Fonda, who played the role when she was 31, beat off competition from more recent characters, including 'Alien' star Sigourney Weaver and 'Matrix' beauty Carrie Anne Moss, to win the accolade.
The magazine described the chart-topping character as: "A sixties icon who was sweetness itself, and yet also the sexiest screen heroine ever to sport a transparent plastic vest."
Other stars nominated in the poll included 'Fifth Element' babe Milla Jovovich, who came second, and 'Terminator 3' star Kristanna Loken, who was voted in third place.
'Star Wars' beauty Carrie Fisher, who played screen siren Princess Leia in the cult hit nearly thirty years ago, also made it into the top 10.
Top Ten Sci-Fi babes:
1. Barabarella, Jane Fonda
2. Leeloo, Milla Jovovich, 'The Fifth Element'
3. T-X, Kritanna Loken, 'Terminator 3'
4. Princess Leia, Carrie Fisher, 'Star Wars'
5. Trinity, Carrie Anne Moss, 'The Matrix'
6. Maria, Bridget Helm, 'Metropolis'
7. Zhora, Joanna Cassidy, 'Blade Runner'
8. Sil, Natasha Henstridge, 'Species'
9. Vaako, Thandie Newton, 'The Chronicles of Riddick'
10. Ripley, Sigourney Weaver, 'Alien'
Gals, you can add the male variety as you see fit...
Hanoi Jane, please. She deserves no honorable mention anywhere. She has no honor.
True. But she had a bod.
None of the above are even close.
Though Sigourney did look good in her undies!
Yeah and she used to to pleasure the Viet Cong!!
Ambassador G'Kar, from "Babylon 5." Smart, funny, spiritual, committed ... Ooh yeah!
As much as I despise Hanoi Jane myself, I have no argument whatsoever with the top two selections.
And the Kill Bill movies, too.
Ok this list has some major problems. First of all, Jane Freaking Fonda?! Come on! She doesn't deserve any recognition for anything. (However, she should appear on television every once in a while so all americans can enjoy the fact that she is rapidly aging and will die someday.)
Ok, on to more important matters. No Vulcan chick from Enterprise!? WTF? Also, any number of the Doctor's female companions should qualify for listing.
I think Barbarella was before she went to the dark side! And it's not my list so argue with the people who were polled. ;o)
Pretty hunky, huh?
As with the Vice President, it's his mind that's truly exciting.
I don't know who #2 is, unfortunately!
The Klingon Duras sisters from TNG outclass her, and methinks you also forgot Jadzia Dax.
What? Leeloo was THE BEST! PERFECT!>
Should have been number one, and let Hanoi Jane be bumped off for Tasha Yar from Star Trek: The Next Generation.
FIFTH ELEMENT BUMP!
