I think she is a below average looking girl who has to use every trick in the book to not look like a cook at Burger King.
She does have a strong voice, poor dressing tastes and a great growing bank account. :-)

Wish her well, but she for female singers for me is what Davenport is to female tennis players.

Predictable comment from you.

Good evening, A CA Guy and Jonny. Just got home from work a little while ago and decided to catch up on this thread. Need a break from the horrific news out of our Gulf Coast.

Guy, you wrote: "I think she is a below average looking girl..."

As a straight female, I know I'll never fully understand how straight men look at women. However, I can certainly recognize and appreciate a classically beautiful woman, just as I can appreciate a beautiful work of art. Thing is, the old cliche is true. Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.

Even so, I agree. Kelly is not beautiful in the classic sense. She's more of a girl-next-door type. By no means unattractive. Her looks may not be to your taste, Guy, but on the music boards I frequent, I see many posters who find her pretty and sexy.

In a number of respects, she reminds me of the young Judy Garland, who was also not a beauty. She was a plump, awkward teenager with an astonishing voice when Louis B. Mayer began filling her up with amphetamines to help her lose weight. At least these days, talented young people like Kelly have the chance to avoid the tragedy that happened to Garland.

As regards her "growing bank account," there's a reason for it. The girl works extremely hard. She's been on tour almost non-stop since around February or March. She'll soon be touring in the UK and Australia. And her talent has made her 2nd CD, Breakaway, one of the biggest selling albums in the WORLD this year. It's reached the top ten in many countries besides the U.S. All three of the singles released from it so far have soared to the top of charts here at home and elsewhere. Her fourth single from the album was released about three weeks ago and it's flying up the charts. Looks like yet another smash hit.

It's rare for any album to have one hit song. Even the best selling albums by top artists seldom have more than one or two big hit singles. Kelly is working on her fourth from just her 2nd CD. She had three hits from her first CD. I heard 'Miss Independent' from her first album on the radio here in L.A. twice today on two different stations.

Radio loves her. Now she's won two significant industry awards, and expectations are high that she'll get at least one Grammy nomination for best pop song (Since U Been Gone).

Despite her success, the girl -- so far, at least -- has remained the same slightly dorky, sweet, refreshing charmer that so many people fell in love with during AI #1.

Physical beauty can carry any individual a long way in this world, but when all is said and done, physical beauty isn't everything. Kelly has plenty of assets.

Speaking of ass-ets, so many guys on the music forums gush over her's that it makes me laugh. (Guys are such dorks when it comes to female body parts.) Apparently, she's considered to have one of the best in the business right now. :-)
