Shep is back - in NY, not NO

Shep is back - they clearly realized he had to get out of there! He was just on Brit Hume's show briefly, seen in a suit clearly from NY or another Fox station.

Bit of a blow to Shep's career I would say...

I've been gone.

I know Shepherd Smith is from FOX.

So what happened? Why was he (supposedly) sent home?

He was frothing at the mouth after five days in the hole. It's understandable, of course, and I'm sure he'd seen things in NO that would cause anyone great distress.

Shep appeared to be having an emotional breakdown.

I might be in a minority but I like the fact that Shep is a barometer for the painful circumstances from which he is reporting. I would rather have a human reporter than a robot.

At least I know he isn't a Geraldo, who is cool inside and dramatic as needs be on the out.

Me too. I have to say that I don't come from a military background. Watching our troops in action was an amazing sight. I think they will be remembered fondly by people who otherwise hadn't contacted them or witnessed their operations firsthand. Infinitely better than any 30 second tv spot.

Shep was great. He was human. He was a journalist. He had class. He may be possibly responsible for actually moving the rescue mission forward by hours if not days. His impassioned pleas and description, his true balance in the face of two sided finger pointing--wherein he explained that there WAS bad behavior, but there WAS ALSO a lack of response to human need that, he hinted, insiniuated a note of complacency, a complacency that might not have charitable origins, got everyone's attention.

Shep did yeomans work. He continued to point out that Aid was promised and Aid was not arriving. He put a human face on a catastrophe. He allowed his emotions to work in front of the camera for the good of his fellow man, knowing, I believe, full well he was compromising his Journalistic position as a professional above the fray. He did it to save lives. He is a hero.

Shep Smith should win a Pulitzer, and I hope he does. V's wife.

He is a hero.

Thank you for that post. And you are exactly right. He wasn't trying to be some drama king. He was, IMO, very impassioned and I for one am thankful that he brought the story to us as he did. It is hard to imagine what the reporters went through and witnessed last week. Surely it would have to change their lives forever. I was glad to see he looked so rested on TV tonight.

THANK YOU SHEP!!!

Shep loaded a gun, pointed it right at the Bush administration and handed it to the DNC. He never even bothered to check to see who was responsible for evacuating the local people, he blamed Bush. Where do you think the dems got the idea?

I have to say that I don't come from a military background.

In my humble opinion, that is the difference that makes a difference. People like Shep haven't had the military experience and can't compute this sort of tragedy.

I didn't really see Shep as blaming anyone, I thought he just freaked out in general - the guy is no war reporter.

Did he actually blame Bush verbally?

He blamed the feds and that translates into Bush and Shep knows that very, very well. Why do you think the dems came out so fast with their attacks?
